Amazon ridiculous policy

We just had our first A to Z claim from a buyer who claims that he did not receive his order.
We send an item fully boxed via Royal Mail Special Delivery and it was delivered and signed for by the postie due to COVID-19 and handed to the resident. This resident now claims the the RM simply left the package outside and someone else opened it and took the item… Yep sure thing.

So then as part of this buyers A to Z, Amazon have decided in there wisdom to remove the listing and sent us an email stating: Notification of Listing Limitations and Products that Require Approval.

We have sent proof of purchase by way of purchase invoices from the supplier we use in the UK who are a big company. Apparently this is not enough.
We have told Amazon that every item we sell is 100% brand new and when sent is fully packaged, protected and sent Special Delivery.

What is it with Amazon?

The invoices need to be from the correct manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers etc, the size of the supplier is of no consequence, Costco for example are a huge company in both USA and UK and their invoices are not acceptable.

I find it hard to believe that RM would just leave an SD item outside without the customer actually coming to the door.

It sounds like you’ve been very unlucky, with this one incident turning the spotlight on you.

All I will say, assuming that you are at some point allowed to continue selling on here, is that I would use a courier that takes a photo of the parcel as it’s been left. It won’t unfortunately help you with Amazon but if you’re selling expensive items, which I assume you are given your username, then it might help if you then wish to pursue the matter through legal channels.

Contact Royal Mail and explain the situation to them and they will investigate. If the parcel was left outside which is possible they will reimburse you. If they have evidence it was given to the resident you have to option to take the appropriate action yourself which in this instance I would do.

Why don’t you give the details to the Police and let them investigate the matter. If you need to speak to Royal Mail they have a specialist team that deals with these types of issues 0207 239 6655

i hope you get this sorted, its my biggest fear when i sell a £1000 AIO desktop is this bull crap happening.

amazons own delivery service is crap too, today they stated item handed to resident. i and my missus were at work in different parts of the county and they left it behind the bin in the socking rain! lukily nothing ruined. i could easily open a case and fake this but i think of the innocent sellers like me.

there systems are totally flawed and they will only get worse. the sooner i spend more time on my site and ebay the better.

The way I read that is that the item was left outside and has then got damaged rather than stolen hence why the condition is mentioned.

If an item is damaged at any point before the customer actually gets the item then it is the sellers responsibility to sort - if thats because it was left outside by Royal Mail then take it up with them, it wont be hard to work out which postman it was - I know mine certainly wouldnt leave a special outside.

Once you’ve been compensated by Royal Mail, you get your money back - or if they prove the item was delivered then you go back to Amazon to claim it back off them.

Well you may do, but the problem is if the OP is going to take the matter to court, like they have said they have done already (at least started the process) the court will require some evidence and the message by the buyer does NOT state it has been stolen, it states it has been taken out of the box, the box having been opened. Further clarification will be required from the buyer on this, as to whether they mean…it’s gone, deceased…or whether they mean it has been taken out of the box on a previous occasion and its been damaged or the condition has changed/been used etc etc etc.
So many possibilities and given the buyer has now made an A-Z regarding its condition, it is even more uncertain of what the buyer is claiming.

I would certainly not embarrass myself in commencing court action and making defamatory remarks on social media about the buyer, and reporting it to crimestoppers (not that they will take any action) and the police (again unlikely to be any action), if i had not established the facts first.
