Am I right in saying it’s acceptable to purchase from retail to sell on Amazon but I have to list it as
used - like new? And a retail invoice would suffice for this.

Yes you have to list it as used like new
if though there was a counterfeit claim against you then I am not sure that retail invoices will be acceptable even for used items…
Personally if you want to go down this route I would think eBay would be a better bet.

I do wonder how many people buy used-like new stuff on amazon (aside from books etc), I guess it would need to be cheaper than new to give an incentive
