Change in Jersey GST (vat) from July 1st 2023 for sellers not in Jersey - sending to customers in Jersey

Was anyone else aware of this change?

https://www.gov.je/taxesmoney/gst/businesses/industry/pages/overseasretailersgst.aspx

notification came from a dpd mailing list we are on.

How does Amazon propose to handle this - are they going to collect the GST and pass it to Jersey?
How does a seller mark their packages to show the Jersey tax office that the 5% has already been declared/paid

" 1. Where retailers trading outside Jersey sell goods to consumers in Jersey (online, through brochures, magazine sales or others) and where the value of such sales by any retailer to consumers in Jersey exceeds £300,000 per annum, such retailers will have to register and account for Jersey GST on all these sales."

and

“to mirror similar legislation introduced in relation to VAT in the UK and the EU during 2021.”

makes me think it will be set up in a similar way to the IOSS system, in that the marketplaces will have the burden to collect and remit the GST.

For people currently only selling items of value £60 or lower, there’s still a while before it becomes an issue, as July 1st only has the threshold being reduced to that price.
