When and How to Use Pre-orders and Back-orders

Hello Sellers,

Have you ever wondered about the differences between pre-orders and back-orders? Here's what you need to know:

Pre-orders allow you to accept orders for products that haven't been released yet, enabling customers to purchase in advance of the release date. This is particularly useful when you're launching new products and want to gauge interest or secure sales before the official release.

Back-orders are for existing products that are temporarily out of stock but will be available again when restocked. This option helps you maintain sales momentum even when inventory is depleted, allowing customers to place orders whilst waiting for your restock.

You can set up these options through Seller Central:

  • For pre-orders, specify the product's release date during listing creation
  • For back-orders, set a restock date for your out-of-stock items

Both options require shipping within 30 days and are not available for Fulfilment by Amazon products or Music, Video and DVD items.

Product listing for other places

Hey everyone,

I am having problem with some of my ASINs, all have the EAN barcode etc, but when I want to list the same product for other countries, it says ASIN is not exist, hence I have to make a new listing in the US for example, is there way we can change this ? like try to first make product in the US market then make listing in the UK ?

your help appreciated in advance!

More and more I'm getting customers (rightly) annoyed at items (2nd class letter size) taking up to 9-10 working days to deliver. Often the replacement & original turn up on the same day - in other words, holding back mail until they have enough to 'justify' going to that address.

Yes, I offer 1st class upgrades from letters up to ParcelForce sizes. But not many are willing to pay the extra charge, especially for a low value item.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

FBA inventory age help

Hi, I have been watching my inventory aged FBA stock and it seems to just be getting older each week despite strong sales - eg stock moves from one bracket of 61-90 days to 91-180 days. I have stock in each age bracket but it seems to always be the 'newest' stock (0-60 days) which sells, not the oldest (91-180 days), so my stock is getting more 'aged' by the week. Can anyone explain that please? I assume I am getting charged more for that because it is older and eventually it might even be sent back to me, but that's not fair - surely the 'oldest' stock should always be used for sales first. I am really confused. Thanks

Royal mail 2nd class large letter shipping costs

I have just started using Amazon buy shipping and used to use Royal mail click and drop for all my postage. This is because of the VTR rules which have forced me to use BUY shipping to keep my VTR level. When I use buy shipping and choose CRL 48 the manifest gets passed to my royal mail account and I get charged for the postage through my Royal Mail OBS account. When I select Royal Mail 2nd class postage I cant find how or if I get charged for the postage. My royal OBA account is not showing any charges for this and I cannot find any charges on my amazon account. Anyone have any similar experience with this. I have seen on other discussions that when other sellers (who dont use click and drop) use this method and take the packages to the post offices they cannot scan them. Its as though Amazon generate the label and expect the seller to somehow to pay for the shipping at the post office. Any help here would be great

Suspected trademark infringement - help needed

Hello,

I have received a message stating that one of my listings was removed due to Suspected Intellectual Property Violations. When I checked the account health page it showed that the listing that is branded as "Generic" is misusing Trademark Gorwrich. I have checked my listing and could not find any signs of this name including pictures. I appealed to Amazon with the following:

"Dear Account Health Specialist,

I am reaching out regarding the recent warning and deactivation of my ASIN XYZ due to a suspected trademark infringement involving the trademark "Gorwich".

I have thoroughly reviewed the entire product listing, including the title, bullet points, product description, keywords, and backend fields. I can confirm that the term "Gorwich" has never been used in any part of the product detail page.

I believe this may have been flagged incorrectly by Amazon’s automated systems. The listing content is original and does not use, reference, or imply affiliation with the brand "Gorwich" in any way. I kindly request a manual review of the listing to verify this.

Please find attached the following to assist in your review:

Screenshots of the product detail page, including: Title, Bullet points, Description, Backend keywords

I value Amazon’s IP policy and always aim to remain compliant. If there is any specific area in the listing that may be causing this flag, I would greatly appreciate further clarification so I can promptly resolve it. Thank you for your assistance and understanding."

I received a reply:

"I understand that you were querying the reinstatement of ASIN: XYZ.

During your application review, we found your product may not be compliant with Amazon Intellectual Property policies and currently has the brand name as “Generic” and GORWRICH products can only be listed by authorized licensed sellers.

After a review, we've determined that we will not be reinstating the removed listings, as the brand on the ASIN cannot be updated, We consider all factors of a product while reviewing policy compliance. If you choose to re-brand a product, you must create a new product rather than updating an existing product.

Can someone advise what shall I do as the answer doesn't make sense to me.

Every week, we encounter at least one fraud attempt where a customer returns their old equipment, falsely claiming that the item they received was damaged. However, they are unaware that the units we ship have their serial numbers scanned and recorded. As a result, when they return a different item, they are not eligible for a refund.

When we attempt to close the return request through the "Returns - Issue Refunds" section and try to deduct 100% of the refund, the system consistently throws an error:

"System Error - There was a system error. Please try again in 15 minutes."

Even after waiting 15 minutes, the issue persists.

Despite repeatedly raising this with the Seller Support team over the years, the problem remains unresolved for years. As a result, we are forced to issue a 1% refund to the customer—despite the fact that they do not deserve it.

Can someone from the Amazon team please investigate this issue? We are happy to cooperate.

Hi Everyone!

I am a week in and going round in circles!! I have applied to Handmade and according to my account page I have been registered but I haven't got a green Handmade at Amazon on my Seller Central and when I add a product Handmade doesn't come up???

I have spent so much time watching videos and reading manual but now even more confused!

Also do I need to get GTIN exemption???

It's all incredibly confusing and time consuming!

EU Seller Central deactivated

Our EU seller central account have been deactivated for 3 months now

We believe that the issue is due to unsuccessful verification for multiple uploads of Proof of Address document for beneficial owner Lucas Ullerup.

We carefully reviewed the feedback from the Performance Notifications and ensured that all details on the submitted documents exactly matched the information entered in Seller Central. However, despite these efforts, the documents were still not accepted. After four or five upload attempts, our account was subsequently deactivated without any further clarification. Since then, we have not received any meaningful feedback explaining why the documents are being rejected, leaving us without a clear path forward.

To make matters more complicated, we’re also facing a DAC7-related issue, as our business address has recently changed. Unfortunately, due to the account deactivation, we are unable to update our business address in the Business Information section of Seller Central. We do, however, possess an official letter from the German Finanzamt confirming the new address, along with our German VAT number and Steuernummer, which we have provided.

We have taken several important steps to try and resolve this matter, including:

Attempting to lift the DAC7 violation on the German (DE) marketplace

Submitting appeals through the UK marketplace

Completing our Amazon Pay account registration

Escalating the issue to the Executive Escalations Team

Despite all these efforts, our account remains deactivated, and we are still without a resolution or meaningful guidance from Amazon on next steps.

At this point, we would deeply appreciate if someone can help us on how to reactivate our account.

Competitive External Price

One of my better selling listings has no button to either 'Add to basket' and/or Buy, this makes no sense to me but does seem to relate to an issue with Match Competitive External Price.

The suggested price is far too low, I am the only seller as it's my brand. This issue looks to have been caused when we added A+ content, no prices were altered at that time.

I am not a new seller, historically this same listing with variations was alsways good for me. Any ideas how this can be fixed?
