FBA Small and Light

FBA Small and Light is an additional fulfilment solution with Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) for your fast-moving, small and light products that are priced at £9 or less (including VAT). The programme offers a competitive fulfilment solution for products that you currently fulfil through your own fulfilment network or FBA. When you join this programme, your participating offers will be available to Prime members with free 1-3 days delivery, and standard 3-5 days delivery for non-Prime customers with FREE delivery on orders over £20. This programme offers lower fulfilment fees versus standard FBA fulfilment fees on comparable products, however, it offers less additional services such as prep and labelling services in the fulfilment centre.

If you have products that meet all of the requirements listed below, you may enrol your products by visiting the Small and Light product enrolment page.

Programme policies

Your participation in FBA Small and Light (the “programme”) is subject to these programme policies, the terms of our Amazon Services Europe Business Solutions Agreement and all other applicable Amazon policies. For the purpose of these policies, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Amazon Services Europe Sarl.

  1. The Small and Light programme

    FBA Small and Light is a fulfilment solution with Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) for Amazon.co.uk for certain fast-moving, small and light products (ASINs) priced at £9 or less (including VAT) and meeting below listed eligibility criteria.

  2. Seller eligibility

    The programme is currently only open to sellers who meet certain selection and velocity eligibility criteria. Sellers may suggest qualified ASINs that they want to enrol on the programme for approval by visiting the Small and Light product enrolment page.

  3. ASIN eligibility

    FBA Small and Light is only open to Amazon-approved ASINs that meet the following minimum criteria:

    • weigh less than 225 g;
    • have dimensions less than 30 X 22.4 X 2.4 cm;
    • are priced at £9 or less (including VAT);
    • have sold in the last 4 weeks (or are expected to sell in the next 4 weeks if the ASIN was created in the last 90 days) more than or equal to 10 units;
    • are listed on Amazon.co.uk;
    • are in new condition;
    • are not Hazardous products, including items that contain lithium batteries or magnetised material (for more information, refer to the Dangerous goods identification guide);
    • are not Adult;
    • are not e-cigarettes or related products (whether or not they contain nicotine);
    • are not classified FBA Prohibited Products;
    • if you have inventory in standard FBA, you must create a new offer for that ASIN to enrol it on Small and Light. Otherwise you must have fewer than 30 units of the same offer in standard FBA before enrolling on Small and Light.

  4. Shipping inventory to us
    • Enrolling selection: Enrol your selection that meets our FBA Small and Light programme eligibility requirements here
    • Preparing your shipment: When shipping your Small and Light inventory to a specified Small and Light fulfilment centre, follow these guidelines:
      • Bundle same-ASINs together using a clear plastic bag or manufacturer/seller case pack (i.e. boxed or shrink-wrapped);
      • Any product made of cloth or fabric that can be damaged by tearing, dirt, dust or liquid during the fulfilment process must be individually wrapped in shrink-wrap or placed in a sealed poly bag (for more information, see Textiles);
      • Clearly mark the total quantity of sellable units on the outside of each bag;
      • You do not need to label individual units with FBA labels;
      • On the outside of each bag/pack, you must apply a unique, scannable FBA label which contains the FNSKU. For more information on printing FBA labels, see: Use an Amazon barcode to track inventory and How to print item labels from the Manage Inventory page;
      • Each ASIN to be shipped must have at least 24 units;
      • Shipments containing ineligible ASINs or that do not comply with Amazon packaging and prep requirements can result in items being moved to unfulfillable status. Unsellable items will require removal or disposal where standard FBA fees apply. If you do not remove this inventory after 30 days of being identified as unfulfillable/unsellable, Amazon may dispose of it. For additional information, see Required removals.

      These product preparation requirements are specific to Small and Light and may not apply to other FBA shipments. We do not offer any preparation or labelling services in this fulfilment solution. Eligible inventory prepared according to the Small and Light requirements is typically received within 5 working days of delivery to the fulfilment centre.

    • Sending your Small and Light inventory to a fulfilment centre: Your enrolled products must be shipped to a designated Amazon fulfilment centre. These may be different to the fulfilment centres for standard FBA. ASINs registered for Small and Light that are shipped to an Amazon fulfilment centre not specified for this programme, are subject to standard FBA fees. For more information, see the FBA Pricing page. When shipping to a designated fulfilment centre, you can use a carrier of your choice or an Amazon Partnered Carrier.

    We do not offer any preparation or labelling services in this fulfilment solution. We may refuse to receive or mark as unfulfillable any incorrectly packaged or prepped or ineligible unit and you will need to remove or dispose of those units. Units prepped according to the FBA Small and Light Prep Requirements are typically received within 5 days of delivery to the fulfilment centre. Failure to follow the Small and Light packaging and prep policies can result in your stock being moved to unfulfillable status. Unfulfillable or unsellable inventory will require a removal order where standard FBA removal fees apply.

  5. Programme fees

    The following fulfilment fees apply to eligible items fulfilled through the FBA Small and Light programme:

    Fulfilment packaging type Item dimensions Item weight (g) Fulfilment fee
    Small Letter (including Packing Material Weight = 8 g) 23.0 X 15.5 X 0.4 cm 0-92 g £0.60
    Large Letter (including Packing Material Weight = 25 g) 30 X 22.4 X 2.4 cm 0-225 g £0.80

    Note: If your product’s package dimensions (any side) or weight exceed any of the maximum values listed, move to the next tier.

  6. Changes to fees, terms and policies

    We may modify the fees, terms and policies that apply to the programme at any time.

  7. Withdrawal and termination; participation in the programme

    You may terminate your participation in this programme or withdraw ASINs from the programme at any time by contacting your account manager or seller support. We may terminate your participation in and remove ASINs or offers from the programme or discontinue or modify the terms of the programme at any time. The programme is intended to provide sellers with an additional low-cost fulfilment solution to help deliver low prices to customers. If you choose to participate in the programme, we expect that you will price your products competitively.

    Upon termination of this programme or ASIN or offer removal from this programme, units linked to affected ASINs will discontinue to be part of the programme and become unfulfillable. You may choose to remove or dispose of any remaining units and we will apply Amazon’s standard Fulfilment by Amazon fees. We cannot transfer any units to another fulfilment centre and make these available for standard FBA.

    For general questions about the programme, refer to the "Frequently asked questions" section below. For additional information, please send an email to fba-snl-contactus@amazon.co.uk or contact Seller Support.

Frequently asked questions

  1. What is FBA Small and Light?

    FBA Small and Light (the “programme”) is a fulfilment solution with fulfilment by Amazon for certain fast-moving, small and light products (ASINs) that are priced at £9 or less (including VAT). The programme is currently available for eligible ASINs listed on Amazon.co.uk either fulfilled by Amazon or via your own fulfilment. Inventory can only be stored in Amazon fulfilment centres in the U.K. as designated by Amazon.

  2. How is FBA Small and Light different from standard FBA?

    FBA Small and Light is only open to ASINs that meet the following minimum criteria:

    • weigh less than 225 g (including packaging weight, see Programme fees for more details);
    • have dimensions less than 30 X 22.4 X 2.4 cm;
    • are priced at £9 or less (including VAT);
    • have sold in the last 4 weeks (or are expected to sell in the next 4 weeks if the ASIN was created in the last 90 days) more than or equal to 10 units;
    • are listed on Amazon.co.uk ;
    • are in new condition;
    • are not Hazardous products, including items that contain lithium batteries or magnetised material (for more information, please refer to the Dangerous goods identification guide);
    • are not Adult products;
    • are not e-cigarettes or related products (whether or not they contain nicotine);
    • are not classified FBA Prohibited Products;
    • if you have inventory in standard FBA, you must create a new offer for that ASIN to enrol it on Small and Light. Otherwise, you must have fewer than 30 units of the same offer in standard FBA before enrolling on Small and Light.

    Amazon also determines ASIN eligibility based on other factors, such as time on marketplace, sales performance and product quality metrics.

    FBA Small and Light requires different prep and packaging. FBA Prep Service, FBA Label Service, and Unplanned Prep Services are not currently supported for enrolled ASINs.

    • Bundle same-ASINs together using a clear plastic bag or manufacturer/seller case pack (i.e. boxed or shrink-wrapped);
    • Any product made of cloth or fabric that can be damaged by tearing, dirt, dust or liquid during the fulfilment process must be individually wrapped in shrink-wrap or placed in a sealed poly bag (for more information, see Textiles);
    • Clearly mark the total quantity of sellable units on the outside of each bag;
    • You do not need to label individual units with FBA labels;
    • On the outside of each bag/pack, you must apply a unique, scannable FBA label which contains the FNSKU. For more information on printing FBA labels, see: Use an Amazon barcode to track inventory and How to print item labels from the Manage Inventory page;
    • Each ASIN to be shipped must have at least 24 units;

    FBA Small and Light’s per-unit fulfilment fees are generally lower than FBA fulfilment fees. For each unit fulfilled with this programme, the seller will be charged a fee of £0.60 for small letter and £0.80 for large letter. These fees are specifically designed for small and light products.

    Programme fees comparison:

    The following table compares FBA Small and Light’s fulfilment fees to the corresponding, standard FBA fulfilment fees:

    Fulfilment packaging type FBA Small and Light FBA (small standard)*
    Small Letter £0.60 per unit £1.34 per unit
    Large Letter £0.80 per unit £1.62 per unit

    *The pricing above is approximate and will be subject to change based on product specifics.

    Example:

    Item SD Card
    Dimensions 3.2 X 2.4 X 0.2 cm
    Item weight 30 g
    Fulfilment fee per unit £0.60 (1 unit X £0.60)
    Storage fee per month £0.00002 (0.00005 cubic feet x £0.65)
    Total fulfilment Fee £0.60 (approx.)
  3. What is the customer proposition difference between FBA Small and Light and standard FBA?

    There are a few differences between the two programmes and we recommend that you keep selection in both programmes to target all types of customers. Main differences are:

    - Small and Light FBA
    Delivery Prime customers: 1-3 days; Non-Prime customers: 3-5 days Prime customers: Next day; Non-Prime customers: 3-5 days
    Add-on programme Does not apply to Small and Light ASINs. ASINs are available to all customers without a minimum basket threshold. Applies to FBA ASINs and requires a minimum basket threshold of £20
    FREE standard delivery for non-Prime customers with basket spend above or equal to £20 Applies to Small and Light ASINs. Non-Prime customers pay a £0.99 shipping fee for a basket spend of less than £20. Applies to FBA ASINs. Non-Prime customers pay a £4.49 shipping fee for a basket spend of less than £20.

    With an equal offer on both programmes, standard FBA may provide a faster delivery promise which could impact Buy Box eligibility. For more information, see The Buy Box.

  4. I would like to participate in FBA Small and Light. How can I enrol my MSKUs?

    If you have products that meet all of the requirements listed above, you may enrol your products by visiting the FBA Small and Light product enrolment page.

    For additional help, refer to our enrolment guide.

  5. How do I add/remove MSKUs from FBA Small and Light?

    To add products to the programme, use the Small and Light product enrolment page. To remove products, use the Small and Light product removal page.

  6. Will FBA Small and Light offers be available to Prime customers?

    Yes, the programme offers will be available to all customers. Prime customers will benefit from a free Expedited Delivery (1-3 working days) option.

  7. Can I offer an ASIN for both FBA Small and Light and standard FBA?

    Yes, you can have an offer in both FBA Small and Light and standard FBA. If you would like to have your ASINs in both FBA Small and Light and standard FBA, follow the steps for Creating offers in both FBA Small and Light and standard FBA . To increase your sales for these ASINs, we recommend having ASINs in both programmes to reach all customers and offer them the full range of Amazon’s delivery options. There is no shared inventory between FBA Small and Light and standard FBA and you will need to ensure that you have a different SKU for Small and Light ASINs. Amazon cannot convert any of the FBA Small and Light units to standard FBA or vice versa.

  8. Can I offer an ASIN for both FBA Small and Light and the Merchant-Fulfilled Network (MFN)?

    Yes, you can have a Small and Light offer and an MFN offer on the same product. However, please ensure that your programme offer is priced competitively relative to your MFN offer. Customers trust that they will find low prices on Amazon. Consistent with maintaining that trust, higher-priced FBA Small and Light offers may not win the Buy Box. For more information, please see General Pricing Rule and The Buy Box.

  9. Can I use my existing Merchant SKU (MSKU) when shipping units to a fulfilment centre in the programme?

    In order to use an MSKU for FBA Small and Light, the MSKU must be based on an offer in FBA. If you have an existing MFN offer, you can choose to convert the offer to FBA in order to use the MSKU for FBA Small and Light. If you intend to have offers in both FBA Small and Light and MFN, we need to create a separate offer so you have two MSKUs, one for FBA Small and Light and one for MFN, if the ASIN meets all programme criteria. In Seller Central, you can update/create multiple offers at once using the Inventory Loader tool. For more information, please see Inventory Loader Instructions. Please refer to Inventory Loader Instructions for more information.

  10. Once folded, my item complies with the Small and Light criteria. Will you fold items to make them fit?

    Yes. When we receive an ASIN that fits in our packaging once folded, we will fold this for you a maximum of 1 time. You must fix a label on the outside of the bag/box containing the foldable ASINs that clearly states your permission to have this ASIN folded. We will mark this FNSKU in our system, so that you only have to include the approval label the first time you send us a foldable ASIN. For more details, please see our Packaging Requirements.

  11. What is the customer returns policy for FBA Small and Light?

    We will provide fulfilment and customer service for your orders, which includes handling customer returns. For more information on our FBA customer returns policy, please see FBA customer returns policy.

  12. How do I remove my inventory under FBA Small and Light?

    You can create a Removal Order in Seller Central to remove your programme inventory, just as you normally would for your standard FBA inventory. Normally, removals (returns/disposals) can take 10-14 working days to pick, pack and process. However, removal times may increase to 30 days or more during peak removal periods, which are February, March, August and September. Please refer to Create Removal Orders for more information.

  13. What happens if an ASIN or my offer has been removed from the FBA Small and Light programme and I have stock in the fulfilment centre?

    If Amazon or you have removed the ASIN or offer from FBA Small and Light, the respective units will become unfulfillable and you need to remove or dispose of the remaining inventory. We cannot transfer these units to another Amazon fulfilment centre and make these available for standard FBA.

  14. When will I get paid for my sales?

    Sales for items in the FBA Small and Light programme are treated just like standard FBA sales, and proceeds will be distributed at the same frequency. For more information, please see Getting Paid.

  15. What shipping options are available to customers for my orders in the programme?

    For orders fulfilled through the FBA Small and Light programme, we offer our customers the following shipping options:

    • Prime customers: Standard Delivery (up to 2 working days)
    • Non-Prime customers: Standard paid delivery for orders under £20 and FREE delivery (3-5 working days) on orders over £20

  16. Can my offers be enabled for EU Export, the European Fulfilment Network or Pan-European FBA?

    At the launch of this programme, your offers enrolled onto Small and Light will not be eligible for EU Export, the European Fulfilment Network or Pan-European FBA. You are not allowed to cross list SKUs with other EU locales. You must ensure that your FBA Small and Light SKU is U.K.-only. If an SKU is inadvertently enabled for the European Fulfilment Network or Pan-European FBA after you have enrolled it in the Small and Light programme, please deactivate it.

  17. Can I use FBA Small and Light for products that I sell on services and channels other than Amazon?

    No. The programme is only eligible for on-Amazon orders.

  18. What reports are available to track my inventory and sales?

    To track successfully-enrolled Small and Light offers and Small and Light inventory levels in the fulfilment centre, download the Small and Light inventory report. For sales and inventory data, see your FBA reports such as the Amazon Fulfilled Shipments (AFSR) and Inventory Reports under the Reports tab in Seller Central.

  19. How do I preview the Small and Light programme fulfilment Fees?

    The “Fee Preview” column in the Manage Inventory and Manage FBA Inventory pages shows fees based on the standard FBA programme. We hope to update this feature soon to reflect the correct fees for products that are enrolled in FBA Small and Light. You can see the correct fees for your enrolled products by downloading a Fee Preview report. The Fee Preview report can be found by visiting the Reports menu in Seller Central, selecting the “Fulfilment” link, and then selecting “Fee Preview” in the list of reports on the left.

  20. What about customer service for my orders in the programme?

    We will provide fulfilment and customer service for your orders as we do for standard FBA.

  21. I am also interested in learning more about standard FBA services. Where can I find more information?

    Please refer to Fulfilment by Amazon for more information.

  22. Can I sell Media products on Small and Light?

    Small and Light is available for Media products that meet the eligibility criteria.

  23. What happens if my items are priced above £9?

    The Small and Light programme is intended to provide sellers with a low-cost fulfilment solution for fast moving small and light items priced at £9 or less (including VAT). If you choose to participate in the programme, we expect that you will continue to meet the Programme guidelines.

    All items that are priced above the Small and Light programme pricing guidelines – £9 or less (including VAT) will be charged the standard FBA fee. Programme participants will continue to get the Small and Light customer experience.
