Use Fulfilment by Amazon to deliver your handmade products

You can use Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) to send inventory to one of our fulfilment centres. When a customer places an order, Amazon packs/handles the stored inventory and delivers it for you.

Note: Currently, FBA does not support custom or personalised products because the inventory stored in fulfilment centres must be ready for customers. However, FBA might still be an option if your work is customised. Determine if there is a customised option that is most popular with customers and create a new ASIN with these preferences that does not have a customised option. The new ASIN will be eligible for FBA.

Why should you use Fulfilment by Amazon?

The benefits of using FBA include:

  • Free delivery on eligible orders: With FBA, your products are eligible for Amazon Prime free Two-Day Delivery and all Amazon customers can get free delivery on eligible orders.
  • Customer service and returns: Amazon provides customer service on your behalf and handles returns for FBA orders.
  • Take Advantage of FBA Only Opportunities: Enrolling in FBA allows you to use programmes such as FBA Small and Light, Lightning Deals, Prime Exclusive Discounts and more, which can help you maximise sales and build customer trust.
  • Tools to help you manage your business: Choose from optional services including product preparation, labelling and repackaging, and Amazon partnered carrier options.

How to use FBA

You can start using FBA by following these steps.

  1. Convert your products to FBA.

When you add products, the default delivery option is ‘Merchant Fulfilled’. Change the delivery to FBA with the following steps:

    1. On the Manage Inventory page, select the items that you want to change to FBA.
    2. On the Action on Selected drop-down list, click Change to Fulfilled by Amazon.
    3. This will direct you the Convert to Fulfilled by Amazon page. Click Convert to go to the Amazon-Fulfilled Inventory page or click Convert & Send Inventory to begin creating a delivery plan. For more information, see Send/replenish inventory to Amazon.
Note: You will be asked to provide additional information to ensure compliance. Complete the questions and click Save & Continue to move to the next step.

  2. Review Pricing
    • FBA Pricing: Fulfilment Fees, Inventory Storage Fees, Optional Services
    • FBA Calculator: Estimate how much your item(s) would cost to fulfil on your own or with FBA
  3. Pack and Label your FBA Products: Proper preparation, packaging and labelling can help ensure your products get transported safely and securely to the fulfilment centre and made available quickly to customers

In the delivery creation process, labels will be generated for you. The default size is Avery 5160 address labels so you will need these prior to sending in your products.

  4. Send your products to a Fulfilment Centre: Create your delivery plan, print Amazon delivery ID labels and send your deliveries to Amazon fulfilment centres. To learn more, visit Send FBA inventory to Amazon.

Once your products are received at the fulfilment centre, they are available for customers to buy. For more information, see How Amazon receives and stores your inventory and Manage FBA orders.

  5. Replenish Inventory

    • Send/replenish inventory to Amazon
    • Replenishment Alerts: Amazon will alert you when remaining inventory falls below a threshold of your choosing. We suggest a duration of three weeks cover, which is likely to give you enough time to prepare/send inventory and have it received before items sell out.

FAQs

Is FBA right for you?

Determining if Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is right for your business by using the FBA Revenue Calculator. This tool allows you to calculate your FBA fees by entering in the ASIN you are interested in enrolling. There are no inventory minimums, so you control which and how many items you enrol.

Can I list the item twice, one with multiple customisation options and one for FBA that is the best-selling combination?

Yes, but modify the title so it doesn’t look like a duplicate. Send in the non-customisable SKU to FBA and your offer with customisations can remain in MFN.

Examples:

You offer a necklace with chain lengths offered in 12”, 18” and 22”. Your FBA offer could be for your best-selling size 18" and your MFN listing has a customisation option that offers all three sizes

You have multiple candles in five different colour containers. Your FBA offer could be for your best-selling colour green and your MFN listing has a customisation option that offers all five colours

How can I unsubscribe from FBA?

Please refer Removal Process.

Item Preparation

Prior to sending items to Amazon, you will need to make sure they are prepared correctly.

FBA Labels

There are two FBA labels required on every delivery: A unit label and a delivery box/pallet label.

  • Unit Label: Every unit that delivers to FBA needs a scannable barcode. Since your items already have UPCs, this will satisfy the requirement as long as they are attached to the garments prior to their arrival at the FC.
  • Delivery Box/Pallet Label: A delivery box label is required for small parcel deliveries and a pallet label is required for LTL deliveries. Both labels are given to you in PDF format when creating a delivery.
