We invest in tools and programmes to increase access to more customers and to help our sellers grow their business on Amazon. Each year, we assess our referral fees to ensure they reflect changing industry dynamics and costs, as well as the feedback we receive from our sellers.
These changes to Amazon referral fees in Europe take effect on April 1, 2020, except where otherwise stated, and will be applicable across our European marketplaces. The full list of changes is below:
The referral fee will be decreased during the promotional period starting 1 March 2020, through 28 February 2021, from 15% to 7% on the portion of total sales price greater than €45/£40. For example, on an item with a total price of €75, the referral percentage will be 15% on the first €45 and 7% on the remaining €30, resulting in a total referral fee of €8.85 (€45*15% + €30*7% ). This promotion is applicable only to items fulfilled through FBA and Seller Fulfilled Prime. Accessories (handbags, belts, sunglasses, and shoe accessories) will also be part of the promotion.
The referral fee will be decreased from 15% to 8% for Personal Care Appliances with a total sales price of €10/£10 or less. For items with a total sales price above €10/£10, the referral fee will remain at 15% .
The referral fee will be increased from 12% to 15% for the portion of the total sales price up to €100/£100 and will be decreased from 12% to 8% for the portion of the total sales price greater than €100/£100. For example, on an item with a total price of €175, the referral percentage will be 15% on the first €100 and 8% on the remaining €75, resulting in a total referral fee of €21 (€100*15% + €75*8% ).
With the introduction of the 3% digital services tax in Italy, we will adjust our referral fee rates on Amazon.it accordingly, starting April 1, 2020. For example, on an item for which the referral fee is currently 15.00%, the new referral fee will be 15.45%, resulting in an increase of 3% in the referral fee amount. If there are further changes to the digital services tax, the referral fee will be adjusted accordingly.
With the introduction of the 2% Digital Services Tax (DST) in the UK in spring of 2020, we have adjusted Referral fees, FBA fees, and monthly FBA storage fees. We have not applied these charges retroactively, rather as of September 1, 2020, the aforementioned fee types increased by 2%. Starting September 15, 2020, Multi-Channel Fulfilment fees will also increase by 2%.
Starting 1 April 2020, we will consolidate Ring accessories into the Amazon Device Accessories category. This will result in increase of referral fee from 12% to 45% .
