Our research shows that listings with complete product information, including images, category (item-type) and titles (parent titles) with less than 80 characters improve the shopping experience by making it easier for customers to find, evaluate and purchase products. As a result, we will hide (or suppress) from search and browse non-media listings that do not meet certain standards. This means that a customer will not be able to find your listing in search if your listing is suppressed.

We will suppress listings without a main image in all categories, except the following:

  • Car Parts and Accessories
  • Books
  • Magazines
  • Music
  • Software
  • Video
  • Video Games
  • DVD

Images that do not meet the Product image requirements will be suppressed. The following requirements should be met for adding an image to your product:

  • Main images with no visible or inappropriately covered intimate parts, no sexually suggestive model pose or expression, no child model in all categories.
  • Main images that occupy up to 85% of the frame (horizontal or vertical products should extend to 85% on the limiting dimension) in all categories.
  • Main images with image that is not blurry or pixelated and does not have jagged edges in all categories.
  • Product images in any category should not include any Amazon logos or trademarks, or variations, modifications or anything confusingly similar to Amazon's logos and trademarks. This includes, but is not limited to, any words or logos with the terms AMAZON, PRIME, ALEXA or the Amazon Smile design. Product images should not include any badges used on Amazon.com, or variations, modifications or anything confusingly similar to such badges. This includes, but is not limited to, "Amazon's Choice", "Premium Choice", "Amazon Alexa", "Works with Amazon Alexa", "Best seller" or "Top seller".
  • Main images with at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side (to support zoom) for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images with pure white backgrounds (RGB value of 255) for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images that do not show any visible mannequins for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images with a model standing, and the pose is not provocative (legs closed, arms are along the body etc.) for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images that show only one product view for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images that do not show any text, logos, graphics or watermarks but shows only a product photo for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery, and Luggage.
  • Main images that display the entire product without any clipped parts for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images that do not show any packaging, brand or swing tags for categories Clothing, Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images without a model but with a product shot flat for categories Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.
  • Main images that do not show extra propping show only what customers are buying for categories Shoes and Bags, Watches, Jewellery and Luggage.

We will suppress a listing from search and browse until you provide a main product image that meets all our category-specific Image Requirements. Even when a listing is suppressed, you can locate it on Amazon by typing the ASIN into the search box.

For products with variations like colour or size, this requirement applies to the parent SKU for the main listings and to the child SKU for each colour and size variation.

Professional sellers can download the Listing Quality and Suppressed Listings Report. For more information, see Fix suppressed listings with inventory files below.

Fix suppressed listings

To identify and fix suppressed listings, follow these steps:

  1. In your seller account, click the Inventory tab, and select Manage Inventory.
  2. Select Suppressed from the horizontal menu.
Note: "Suppressed" is only visible if you have suppressed listings to improve. If you do not have any suppressed listings, this option will not be visible.
  3. View all suppressed listings on the Suppressed Listings page, or click Issue type to filter by specific type of issue.
  4. There are three ways to fix a suppressed listing:
    • Option A: Fix suppressed listings in the Issue(s) to Fix column by entering the missing values in the editable cells or selecting missing values from the drop-down list and clicking Save.
    • Option B: Fix suppressed listings in bulk by selecting multiple defects that require the same fix. Then, click Bulk Fix Listings and submit a value in the Fix quality issue for multiple listings pop-up view.
    • Option C: Fix suppressed listings that are not fixable in the editable grid (Option A) or in bulk (Option B) by clicking Edit and going to the Edit Product Info page. In Edit Product Info, the missing product details will be highlighted and you will see informational messages that further detail the issue. For non-image issues, enter the missing value and click Save and Finish. For image issues, follow the guidelines on the Product image requirements page and then upload valid product images.

If you do not have additional images that comply with our guidelines, then it might be necessary to reshoot the product. Alternatively, you can retouch images using a software package. However, ensure that the image quality is not affected.

The AmazonBasics Portable Photo Studio can help improve your image quality. In addition, the Mobile Image Capture (within the Amazon Seller app) offers a simplified, low-cost imaging workflow. The portable studio enables quality images with a camera or smartphone and the app enhances, retouches, validates and uploads images directly to your listings. Learn more .

Other sellers have found that employing imaging retouching firms like Doopic have helped them to improve their images. To learn more, you can contact Doopic (Valentina Diara at valentina.diara@doopic.com). You can apply the AMAZON10P promotional code to use Doopic services. You will find Doopic and other companies like them on our Solutions Provider Network website.

We hope you find this information helpful but please be aware that Amazon is not affiliated with Doopic and other companies; they are independent companies. If you choose to employ Doopic or another company, you will contract directly with them and they will provide services to you at your direction. Amazon does not endorse any Imaging Provider or its services.
