Handmade Listing Guidelines: Clothing, Shoes & Accessories

As a Maker, your handmade clothing, shoes, and accessories products must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All products must meet the overall Handmade Category Guidelines.
  • Apparel that is designed and applied by you using production methods like screen printing, press printing, or heat transfer are allowed.
  • Digital printing is not allowed in the Handmade store. Those products can be sold in Amazon Custom or in the overall Amazon third-party store.
  • Reselling is not allowed; must be newly created; upcycling is permitted.
  • We do not allow any used, counterfeit, trademark-infringing, replica, or knock-off products and/or imagery on Handmade.
  • For any hand-altered branded products, you must have documented permissions from the brand owner to use the brand name in the title such as Converse and Nike.
  • If using an embroidery machine, it must be done in your home studio or workspace.
  • Manufacturing of items cannot be outsourced. For example, sewing and printing of artwork on apparel items must be done by you, the Maker, or your employees.
  • All Shoes must be new/never worn. Upcycled shoes are not allowed.
  • Enamel pins are allowed if the mold and design are created by you.
  • If you supply products for sale on Amazon, you must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and Amazon policies applicable to those products and product listings.
  • All products must comply with all laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where they are sold.
  • Adult products must comply with the Adult Products Policies & Guidelines and must be flagged as Adult.
  • All products must comply with European Regulation on textile fibre names and related labelling.
  • For Handmade EU-specific sizing recommendations, see Apparel and Shoe Size Charts.

Protecting Handmade Integrity

Amazon reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to remove a product from any Amazon Handmade category. We will notify the impacted Maker regarding the removal and the impacted Maker will have the option to appeal this decision. Notifications will be sent to the Maker through Seller Central and will include details on what is needed by Amazon to conduct an audit, as well as the timeframe in which the Maker will need to provide Amazon with this information.

If Amazon determines that the content of a product detail page or listing is prohibited, potentially illegal, or inappropriate, we may remove or alter it without prior notice. Amazon reserves the right to make judgments about whether or not content is appropriate. Amazon follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act notice-and-takedown process and terminates the selling privileges of those who repeatedly infringe others’ intellectual property.
