To provide a better experience for our customers, three mandatory attributes are provided for listings created either one at a time or in bulk. They are:
Additionally, we are adjusting the allowed values for the unit count type attribute. See below for the detailed description of the attributes and Net Content, item form and number of items attributes FAQ page for the affected PT list.
This attribute defines the form of your product. For example, for a 'Shampoo' product type, some of the forms are, cream, liquid, foam, and so on. If your ASIN is in a Product Type where the Item Form is required, you will need to select a value from the drop down that best represents the form of your product. If you cannot find a value that best represents your product, you have the option to provide value of your choice. However, this may cause your ASIN to be excluded from customer-facing experiences which require normalised values.
This attribute is the lowest level of branded packaging that encases the product sold. (For example, the number of bottles of laundry detergent, the number of bags of chips, or the number of boxes of pens). If your ASIN is in a Product Type where the Number of Items need to be specified, you are required to select a value representing the container count for the entire ASIN (for example, the number of bottles of laundry detergent, the number of bags of chips and so on.
Some products may have multiple layers of nested packaging. Hence, Number of Items must be used to count the container of the product or commodity and not the commodity itself, where the commodity is defined by the Product Type and Item Form where required.
Let us look at an example below.
See additional examples given below.
Product | Product Type | Item Form | Size | Number of Items |
---|---|---|---|---|
Water Bottles | WATER | Liquid | 1 l (Pack of 6) | 6 |
Snack Bar | SNACK_FOOD_BAR | Bar | 26 Count (Pack of 1) | 1 |
Pepsi Cans, Pack of 12 | DRINK_FLAVORED | Liquid | 355 ml (Pack of 12) | 12 |
Coffee Pods, Pack of 1 | COFFEE | Pods | 30 Count (Pack of 1) | 1 |
Coffee Pods, Pack of 10 | COFFEE | Pods | 30 Count (Pack of 1) | 10 |
Apple Sauce | FRUIT_SNACK | Sauce | 3.9 oz (pack of 72) | 4 |
This attribute defines the unit of measure for your product and depends upon the product type and form of your product (item form). For Unit Count Type, sellers today can choose from a list of values from the drop down. However, to normalise this attribute during the ASIN creation/update process, we will be restricting this attribute to an allowed value in the drop-down menu based on product type and item form combination. For example, if your ASIN belongs to the “Shampoo” product type and Item form “Liquid”, the unit count type should be ml. For more information, go to additional examples below and view complete list.
