We have implemented new data requirements for price per unit (PPU) information to deliver an accurate and consistent experience for customers. This requirement affects new and existing listings. Customers use PPU information to compare and evaluate products during their shopping experience. In addition, PPU information is required by law for many products.
Unit count includes a value such as Unit Count of 5, and a type such as Unit Count Type of count, gram, meter, millilitre or square meter. We provide the PPU information for certain products to customers based on this unit count information.
The product types listed in the PPU product types table are required to include the Unit Countand Unit Count Type attributes. Product updates will show errors for ASINs that do not follow these PPU requirements.
For certain product types, ASINs without Unit Count information or with incorrect values in the Unit Count Type attribute have to be updated within a certain time period that is shown in the Listing Quality dashboard. After this period has passed, certain listings (see details in the PPU product types table ) that do not contain the above-mentioned attributes will no longer be shown in search. These search-suppressed ASINs will then be available under Fix Your Product (FYP).
The scope of this change includes any product-level data submissions, whether through Excel templates, Seller Central (under Manage Inventory > Edit > Vital information) or XSD feeds.
The Unit Count Type attribute will be restricted to the following units:
|Item Sold By||Examples||UK||DE||FR||IT||ES|
|Weight||coffee beans; sculpting material||gram||gramm||gramme||grammo||gramo|
|Volume||paint; soft drinks||millilitre||milliliter||millilitre||millilitro||mililitro|
|Area||gift wrap; tiles||square metre||quadratmeter||mètre carré||metro quadrato||metro cuadrado|
|Count||drinking cups; writing instruments||count||stück||unité||unità||unidad|
For products that are consumed by volume, weight, length or area, provide as a Unit Count the net quantity that would be shipped to a customer who orders one ASIN, such as a 12-pack of 330 millilitre bottles of water = 3960, vs. a single 330 millilitre bottle = 330. For products consumed as individual units, provide the total number of units, such as a pack of 4 light bulbs = 4. For sets of non-identical items, such as a hairbrush and hair colour in a single product, enter 1 count. For products that come in pairs, such as a pair of socks, enter the number of pairs.
The requirement applies to all products in the PPU product types table .
We remind you to provide accurate and complete information for each product that you make available through any Amazon store as required by the applicable law. The PPU product types table is not meant to include an exhaustive list of product types for which the PPU may be required by the law and should not be used as reference to assess your offer compliance.
PPU helps customers compare prices among products. A few examples are provided below:
To display PPU, the Unit Count attribute must be filled in correctly. Thereafter, an automated system decides whether PPU should be displayed. For example, if the product is a ‘Car_seat’, the system does not display PPU. However, if the product is ‘Coffee’, the system does display PPU. We constantly review these rules based on customer feedback.Generally, PPU is displayed in kg for weight and l for volume. However, in certain cases, based on customer feedback, we might choose to display in 100 ml/100 g where customers do not use the higher units of measure, such as kg/l, while shopping. For example, face creams in Beauty or herbs in Grocery.
If a product is a set of different products, enter Unit Count = 1 and Unit Count Type = count.
Yes. While Number of Items might be an optional attribute for some products, please provide a value if your product is a multipack with identical products. This will ensure that product detail page is configured correctly. If you selected ‘count’ as value for the Unit Count Type, the values in Unit Count and Number of Items should be the same. However, if you selected another Unit Count Type, the values in Unit Count and Number of Items might differ, for example 3 rolls of tape 2 metres each should have Number of Items, Unit Count = 6 and Unit Count Type = metre.
