VAT requirements for UK inventory storage

Under UK VAT legislation, all online marketplaces must prevent non-UK businesses that are storing products in the UK from offering products for sale after the marketplace becomes aware that the business is not meeting its UK VAT registration requirement.

Once you place inventory in the UK, you need to be UK VAT registered and we will be required to verify the validity of your registration. We will contact you to request your UK VAT number, once you place inventory into the UK but you can upload it now at Seller Central.

Note: To upload your VAT numbers and enrol in VAT Calculation Service, click here.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is responsible for ensuring all businesses meet their VAT compliance requirements under UK VAT legislation. To learn more about how the legislation might affect you, refer to HMRC guidance note.
