Amazon has recently incorrectly applied the “Frequently Returned Item” badge to our best-selling listing. ASIN: B081749CM6
The badge first appeared in August when we had low sales on the item in the off-season; this was due to a small number of sales and a small number of returns which exceeded the threshold for the category at the time.
The badge then cleared in Sep; however, it has now randomly reappeared on our listing as we head into peak season. We have checked the returns for this period, and they have gone way down; even in the returns console, the item is way under the category benchmark and does not even show an "at risk" warning for the ASIN in the returns dashboard.
During the period between Aug-Sep we only received 2 returns with much higher sales and returns were due to customer issue. Only 2 returns show up for the months, both in September, each for 1 unit and both back in sellable stock:
17 Sep: refused on delivery (undeliverable).
26 Sep: unwanted item. The customer returned the jacket and no longer needed the battery.
That alone represents around a 2.4% return rate, and neither should even count, as neither was a return for performance.
We are the brand owner and only seller on the item.
The return badge also seems to have reappeared on the listing after I uploaded an Excel file to update some fields.
We now have a frequently returned badge on our best-selling listings going into our peak season, with no actual returns during the period. This is a serious issue with Amazon's system, as I see many other forums with people stating the same thing. We have opened case ID 13376592082, and we urgently need an admin to look into this. Having that badge can reduce conversion by 50-60% on an item, and the system has clearly tagged our listing by mistake, as there is no return data to justify it and the return % for the category is well under the threshold.
This is clearly an issue with Amazon's system not assigning these badges correctly, causing financial damage to businesses. Can an admin please look into this urgently and our open case ID above?
