Subscribe and Save Product Out of Stock - What happens?

We ran into an issue for one of our products in which our replenishment was mishandled by Amazon resulting in the product being "OOS." We have 200 subscribers to this product. Are the subscribers' orders held/delayed until the product is back in stock and then auto-filled upon that date? Or do the auto-renewing shipments get skipped altogether?

We only have S&S that Amazon has set up -- we didn't set any up. So, I don't know the answer, but I'm curious. (there's no way to 'watch' a post so I can come back later, so I must respond to get a notification).
