DHL eCommerce and Evri are merging - good or bad news?
Not something I was expecting but it seems this is happening.

I just got that email too. Being presented as a merger but DHL are much bigger worldwide so suspect it is more of a takeover with DHL looking to increase its share of small parcel business.
Perhaps typical of many parcel senders I use DHL for larger items and Royal Mail for small stuff, mostly afraid of Evri's reputation (although I believe it has improved over the last few years).
In my (rural) location DHL (deliveries and collections) turn up in a branded van, Evri deliveries turn up in a private car. Not sure how that pans out with a merged company.
Perhaps also preempting the inevitable shake up coming within Royal Mail now it's under new ownership of folding Parcel Force in and sharing resources.

Classic exit taken by a Private Equity to sell their stake.....Evri changed hands in 2020 also it was 850million deal .... and in 4 years 2.7billion - and Apollo selling partial stake to DHL. We are all wasting our time here!

We use DHL for shipments up to 10kg, which are dispatched on a next-day delivery service. Over the past seven years, the number of lost parcels has been minimal—fewer than five in total.Previously, for 2kg parcels, we used Evri. However, we experienced frequent issues with lost deliveries. Drivers often left parcels unattended at the doorstep, rang the bell, and left without confirming if anyone was home. In the past three years, we did not receive a single notification indicating a missed delivery or an attempt to re-deliver.Due to these concerns, we now use Royal Mail for our 2kg parcels and have experienced significantly fewer delivery issues.

We dropped DPD Local for DHL e-commerce earlier this year and it has been working well with lower pricing too.
I think using the 'EVRI PREMIUM" branding is a mistake, due to EVRI having such a poor reputation. I suspect it was getting confusing for some consumers that DHL e-commerce and DHL are not the same thing (likewise DPD and DPD Local, though the latter is now being curtailed), as e-commerce was originally UK Mail. Please see the communication below:
"We’re really excited to share some news with you: DHL eCommerce and Evri are merging to become the UK’s largest dedicated parcel delivery company. This will bring significant benefits for consumers, businesses, ecommerce retailers, employees, couriers and suppliers alike. What does this mean for me?
First up, we want to reassure you that nothing will change for you. You’ll continue to receive the exact same service from us as you always have. That’s the same premium network, the same collection and delivery experience – the same drivers – and the same account management and customer service that you enjoy today. This strategic step forward will unlock incredible potential for you and all our customers and accelerate our ambition to become the UK’s most competitive, customer-focused parcel carrier. By combining the scale and agility of Evri with the quality, reach, and infrastructure of DHL eCommerce, we are creating a business with enhanced capability across every segment of the parcel market.
Why is this happening? Bringing together our complementary skills, delivery services and networks will create a one-stop-shop solution to deliver services for businesses, ecommerce retailers and consumers. It creates attractive innovation opportunities to serve you and your customers better in a rapidly evolving ecommerce marketplace. It also improves choice, competitiveness and service, with enhanced digital services, security and delivery options. What happens now? Our premium delivery network will go by the brand name Evri Premium - a network of DHL eCommerce, and will remain a separate network offering fast, time-sensitive deliveries with enhanced shipping security protection for high-value and large items, and the ability to cater for a range of parcel sizes. UK Mail will also be retained as our specialist mail brand. As this is quite a change in the UK parcel delivery market, the proposed transaction will require approval from the UK Competition and Markets Authority and other regulatory bodies. We’ll of course keep you updated as we move through the process. We want to reassure you that we appreciate your custom and our partnership and we’ll still deliver value for you beyond simply delivering your parcels. We truly believe that bringing DHL eCommerce and Evri together will bring greater opportunities to strengthen our working relationship in 2025 and beyond.

Potential Upside: DHL’s infrastructure and global network could raise service standards, especially for high-value and time-sensitive deliveries.
Potential Downside: Evri has a poor reputation for reliability, and if its operational model dominates, service quality could suffer.
The new premium service will be branded as Evri Premium – a network of DHL eCommerce, offering enhanced security and faster deliveries. However, the merger is still subject to approval by the UK Competition and Markets Authority
