Brand Approval- Where did I go wrong?

Please could someone advise.

I am trying to obtain approval to sell a branded toy (for example a peppa pig toy). I want to sell using an existing listing, and was asked to send in an invoice in order to obtain approval.

Request 1 :
Dated on or after 26-Nov-2021 (within 180 days)
_Document must meet following requirements _
Includes your name and address, matching the information in your selling account

Include the name and address of the manufacturer or distributor

Show the combined purchase of at least 10 units

Omit pricing information (optional)

I submitted a proper invoice generated by an actual wholesaler (A&K Hoisery) and then I got this reply.

Request 2: Thank you for your application to sell xyz products. We have reviewed the documentation you provided. We were not able to verify the supplier information listed on the invoice provided.

Document 1: Invoice+47500.pdf

Please send documentation that solves the issues described above.

Documents and information required from your supplier’s supplier:
– Copies of invoices, receipts, contracts, delivery orders or authorization letters from your supplier’s supplier issued in the last 365 days.
– If you are not the brand owner, provide an authorization letter and a complete set of documentation to prove a valid supply chain.
– If you are the brand owner, provide a copy of the brand registration certificate, and business license or personal identity card.

These documents must include:
– Contact information for your supplier’s supplier, including name, phone number, address, email, and website.
– A description of the item.

You can only send .pdf, .jpg, .png, or .gif files. These documents must be authentic and unaltered. You may remove pricing information but the rest of the document must be visible. For ease of our review, you may highlight or circle the ASINs under review.

When I asked the wholesaler for this info they said they had never recieved such a request before and they are reluctant to share understandbly what seems to be sensitive information e.g. supply chain details

Is your ‘wholesaler’ exclusively wholesale or are they also a retail outlet? It sounds like Amazon believe the supply chain is too long and that your wholesaler may not be authorised to sell for resale. Are they a reputable wholesaler/distributor and not a cash+carry type of wholesaler?

They’re also a listed wholesaler of clothing and footwear so amazon might very well not accept them for toys

Seller_NoMNQDGnEW5Bx

of course but Amazon checks things like the SIC code at companies house when verifying companies and it specifically says clothing and footwear so they are probably querying where they get toys from

Thing is not every wholesaler is really a wholesaler.
For example, you can just register as a private person on their website and start shopping. All prices are shown to anyone not even logged in. Minimum order is £50. All these are red flags for Amazon who think this might be a retailer posing as a wholesaler. And this time they might be right.

I think you confused the issue with your first post.

Just to be clear; it isn’t ‘Peppa Pig’ that you want to sell but another, similar brand?

I’m guessing you want to sell this particular toy because you have acquired a quantity already and want an invoice from a wholesaler to back it up?

OP - YouTube and courses are a waste of time and money. Someone above said YT can be a source of info if common sense is applied and that is true but be careful and take everything with a large pinch of salt.

The main problem with these courses is that they give you a blueprint/template for success, but of course every business and every person is unique in their own way so there will never be a one size fits all solution for success on Amazon, or any marketplace for that matter.

That said… Maybe we should all start a forum YT channel with actual information from real sellers that have faced real problems! This time next year Rodney… but seriously, Seller University and the forums are your best bet. As you’ll no doubt have seen there are some incredibly knowledgeable and selfless individuals on here that are always happy to help and don’t get a tenth of the credit they deserve
