Who pays FBM returns?

Hi all. Is there a list of who pays for FBM returns according to the reason for return? Faulty goods seller pays, obviously. Change of mind from customer?

Here it is.

Note though that this doesn't apply in categories such as Clothing and Jewellery, where its free returns for any reason.

Also note, if you are doing the Prepaid Return Label scheme, you will be charged up front for ALL labels once the return is scanned. Depending on the reason given, the cost of that label may be deducted from the refund at first scan. if you have reason to believe the customer has used a false return reason, you can open a Safe-T claim once the return has been delivered to you.

Based on my personal experience, this is a very wrong advise because sellers cannot open Safe-T claims for postage or just because we believe that the customer has used a false return reason.

Amazon issued pre-paid label. My buyer was lying. And still I could not open a safe-t claim. In fact no matter what the seller or buyer says, there is not cat in a hell's chance that you would get the postage back. Mostly buyers claim item not as described and amazon would refuse. Also you CANNOT open a Safe-T claim for postage because postage is automatically issued by amazon.

buyer should be charged return postage fee on FBM, its on our return policy too - deduct before refund. I had to return something purchased for personal use and had to pay the return postage to amazon, seller was FBA. Likewise buyer should be charged the return postage if they changed mind etc. In addtion, item must be returned unused condition, used product does not qualify as changed mind, you may charge re-stocking fee e.g. 10% but before return is approved all this should be informed to the customer and not after the product has been returned. I hope this info helps.

Thank you

Well it's hardly going to be the customer or Amazon........

Yes of course, I am not fighting for the money, rather wanting to know why for a seller in my position is not able to open a safe-t claim.

There is no way of clawing back the postage for change of mind or other forms of abuse of returns policy.

This is not for good sellers like me who issued refund within 5 minutes of opening my returned parcel. Had I waited around for amazon to issue refund, I may have been able to open safe-t claim and then claim my postage back.

I am just reflecting on this, that is all.

Sometimes you just have to put it down to experience and take the loss because it can take up so much of your time otherwise trying to fight it.
