Impact of Brexit on Shipping via FBA to EU & returns

Hi,

This post is intended to focus on stock stored in Amazon FCs in the UK only and shipped to EU countries via FBA.

  1. In above scenario are we expecting any changes, will Amazon pay any customs / import duties (if applicable) and will charge us when they will ship to EU via FBA. In this case, we can adjust by increasing EU prices. Or do we need to take any additional action at this stage.
  2. How EU returns will be managed after Brexit? Anything different. Currently, I have few returned items stored in EU FCs, I have opened a case and waiting for a resolution from SS from last few days.

Thank you for your time. Regards.

Can’t help with 1, but for 2 you will need an address in the relevant country. Amazon will only fulfill removal orders to a local address and then you will have to get it shipped back to you. Same applies to the items you have there currently - Amazon won’t send them back to the UK.

At least that’s how i’ve understood things - happy to be corrected.

from the various Webanir, my understanding is that YOU have to ship them directly to EU FC and arrange for any duty/VAT etc paid yourself.

I believe Amazon will only ship your goods held in a UK FBA to a Uk address- for sales to EU you have to have the stock held in an EU FBA centre

I’m thinking - but may be wrong - that the details cant be confirmed because the trade deals havent been finalised. I cant imagine Amazon would want to commit to supplying abroad from the UK before knowing what costs may be involved

happy to be corrected though

Thank you everyone for your contribution. I had a chat with SS today after above comments and have processed disposal requests for returned items sitting in EU FCs and I am going to switch off my listings on ‘holidays’ until we had a better solution. Best wishes

Copy & Pasted from Brexit FAQs:

I no longer want to sell into Europe. How do I disable my EFN and Pan-European cross-border sales?
If you are using EFN, you do not need to take any action to disable your cross-border sales. While your EFN listings will still exist, customers will only be able to view and purchase these offers if you have stock stored on the other side of the customs border. UK customers will not be able to view EFN listings from EU selling partners, unless there is stock in a UK fulfilment centre. EU customers will not be able to view EFN listings from UK selling partners, unless there is stock in at least one EU fulfilment centre. If you are using Pan-European FBA and no longer want to sell across border, you will need to disable Pan-European in your settings. To do this, go to Settings in Seller Central, and then click Fulfilment by Amazon. In the Cross-Border Fulfilment Settings section, click Edit, and then deselect Enable next to Pan-European FBA. Once you have done this, Pan-European inventory that is still in stock will continue to sell domestically, however it will no longer be transhipped or fulfilled remotely to other countries.

Following on from this I want only to store in UK FCs, not in EU FCs, therefore I will only use FBA service for UK clients. If I want to send seller fulfilled to other countries can this be done? How is it set up in Amazon where we are talking about the same product being UK FBA and RoW Seller fulfilled?

@PeterT … I have taken above text from Brexit FAQs … your listings will be not be visible to EU customers if your stock is only available in the UK … I have confirmed this with Seller Support colleague yesterday. This is my current understanding. Please do share links or concrete information if you find anything different. I think Amazon will review this after few months once deal situation etc will become more clearer. Have a nice weekend.

We only hold stock in the UK, our listings are still live in EU marketplaces.

Am I wrong in thinking Amazon has said that no UK stored FBA stock will be used to fulfill EFN orders after 18 Dec.

I thought Amazon was going to switch it off? We didn’t put anything into holiday mode as such as we thought European mainland customers wouldn’t be able to buy any listings fulfilled from the UK, but we are still taking orders today.
