Competitive Pricing
I have had a few items recently where I have been told to lower my competitive price to £1.89. I have searched for the barcodes and the only reference I can find is my listings on eBay for the same barcode but £1.89 is my buy 2 price not my buy 1 price.
They may have been £1.89 a few weeks ago as I had a discount event on eBay to remove some stock not selling on that site…but the competitive price alerts have only just come in a couple of days ago.
If I was to lower the items to the price they want me to I would be giving away the product. Whilst I can afford to sell at eBay at the lower price I can’t on Amazon FBA where they are measuring the item at a £1.03 fulfilment fee on S&L. One of the benefits of FBA is that I sell slightly higher than the eBay/FBM offers as the customer is likely to receive the item a bit quicker.
Does anyone know if you can challenge the competitive price with Amazon. I have removed the barcodes off eBay for now to see if this helps resolve the issue.
I am making the assumption they have got the competitive price off eBay but there might be other sellers out there selling the same item somewhere at a £1.89 price point but I just can’t see where.

Yes, kind of. A media seller reported a while back they’d been successful, though it took a lot of effort. The link i’ve found is not the one i remembered, so there may be another one out there.

I am getting nowhere with this and I don’t really expect to!
I have noticed on a couple of listings that some of the FBM offers are showing an Amazon applied discount to take them down to the competitive pricing. I notice that my FBM and FBA offers don’t have such a discount.
It doesn’t really seem fair…

I am now having around an item a day suppressed from the Buy Box due to the price not being competitive.
Tonight for example a greeting card which I sell on Amazon FBA for £2.50 the competitive price is now £1.99 and unless I match £1.99 I will not get the buy box.
Amazon appear to matching prices to sellers on eBay where I can find these cards sold at these prices.
@Maja_Amazon, @Julia_Amazon, @Winston_Amazon is there anything that can be done here. If I was to sell at £1.99 which is the suggested price my revenue from each sale would be as follows
Price Customer Paid : £1.99
VAT : -£0.33
Amazon Referral Fee : -£0.30
Amazon Fulfilment Fee : -£1.03
Total Revenue : £0.33
Now to make any profit the cost of my item would have to be less than £0.33 which is just not possible. I am all for ensuring prices are competitive but for sellers selling on FBA they will always need to sell a little higher to cover the additional costs and also buyers are willing to pay the extra as they get a faster delivery
At the rate my items are being suppressed from the buy box I am either going to have to face recalling a lot of items or lowering my prices and making a loss. Neither are a good option.
