UPS Collections - Now Outsourced

So a couple of weeks ago the excellent UPS Driver (Nice brown Van, Matching Socks!) that visits around twice a week informed me that my route was being 'outsourced'

Since then no end of problems, this week: four days in a row they don't even bother turning up. I have spent hours on the phone CS and local depot! Keep promised on its way, each night need to rebook.

Only solution given is can you take to drop off? Yes sure the local news agent wants 20 boxes in the shop.

Rant Over!

Understand UPS are AMZ prefered partner, but are there any other solutions while they sort this mess out?

Other carriers are available, I believe for example you can use DPD.

However the problem you will have is that the rates for any non partnered carriers are likely to be significantly higher unless you already have a contract with them.

Have you asked if you can drop off at the local depot? I am not sure what UPS policy is on this and if it is allowed.

Sounds like they don't have the resources to run your route and their solution is to subcontract it out. Presumably that's either cheaper for them than adding staff, or they've been unable to find staff.

Try speaking to your local UPS depot and see if you can drop the parcels off. My depot have said it’s no problem in the past. I think I had 30 boxes at the time as well.

We binned UPS completely 2 years ago when suddenly 4 weeks before Christmas, our local depot decided that they just weren't going to handle Amazon parcels for the rest of the year. They just stopped collecting. Cost me a fortune in lost FBA sales. I won't go near them again after that. Check out Parcelforce, they do an excellent 24hr service on a consignment rate.

Can you book a daily collection? I find ad-hoc collections are often ignored but if you are daily they can put you on a regular roster.

Failing that, DPD are reliable and cheaper if you are sending several parcels to the same place, or Parcelforce have good rates for single parcels.
