Items selling despite my stock level being zero and my stock is still inbound

Hey so I’m new to fba. Have a few products listed. I’ve got these shoes that are currently inbound, my first time sending them in. The stock level is showing as zero yet two customers have managed to purchase. The item is fba, not merchant fulfilled. Does anyone know what’s going on and how buyers have been able to purchase despite me having no stock? I rung amazon and the guy couldn’t shed any light on it

It is totally normal.

If you have stock inbound to Amazon then this can be available for purchase. Customers will be shown a long delivery date so they know they are not going to be available for despatch straight away.

Customers can decide to cancel after purchase if they no longer wish to wait for the stock to arrive.

It is not something you can opt out of and it doesn’t always happen. Sometimes customers can not buy the item until it is received into the fulfilment centre.

If you want to look in the help pages then Amazon call it “in-stock headstart”, but the post above pretty much covers it
