Amazon charging incorrect closing fee on books sold (UK)
We have discovered that Amazon have been charging us a £1 closing fee on all books sold since January 2021 when the Amazon website quite clearly states in 4 separate places that the fee should be 50p. We are only a small seller so we are only looking at approx £400 that we are owed but it is going up every day that Amazon fail to fix their error. I was shocked that Amazon asked us to provide them with details of all items affected bearing in mind they can see what we can see, but I did as asked and sent a full spreadsheet taken from Amazon reports with the fees broken down. We are now getting a little further with Amazon in that they have admitted there is an issue and have said we will hear by the end of the month but we are already at over 4 months since raised which is atrocious service and quite simply amounts to theft. If anyone else is being overcharged on the closing fee for books it would be wise to raise it with them.

It does depend on the price of the book - under £5 including postage and it should be 50p, over £5 incl postage and it is £1. I cannot remember when that came in, but was a long time ago. I have just found this post from an old thread , and here is the thread:

- Variable Closing Fees (VCF): The VCF charge in Books will change from £0.50 to £1.00 on Amazon.co.uk. This applies to all New and Used Books.
- Referral fees: The referral fee for UK Books will change from 15.3% to 5.1% for products with a total sales price below £5.00. The referral fee will remain unchanged at 15.3% for products with a total sales price greater than or equal to £5.00. This applies to all New and Used Books.
The £5.00 includes the shipping credit (if you use the default shipping), which makes it hardly worth selling cheap books. !
Have you been charged £1 on ALL sales ?

As Jilly says, the £1 fee applies to all books over £5 total value (incuding postage).
Surprisingly, many sellers seem unaware of this (megasellers included). Amazon did announce it quite a while ago but unless you keep a close on your messages or the forum, it was easy to miss.
Maybe Amazon didn't want us to realise the complete pointlessness of pricing books between £5 and £5.50)...
For cheap books, it's all a bit academic in any case.
Unless you are prepared to sell for around £3 including postage it's all but impossible to compete with the megasellers on common (and even many uncommon) titles. For the majority of smaller sellers, it would be financially ruinous to chase the megas down. :(

Same! I've been asking for an answer since February. They agreed it's wrong and I should be reimbursed and then nothing. It's making me crazy!
