Pending Payment on items Seller Fulfilled

Hi everyone,
Normally, on an order I fulfil, the customer order is at Pending for about 30 mins or 1 hour before it becomes paid and needs packaging and posting.
This last week, I have 3 that seem to be stuck at pending?? This isn’t an issue, apart from it ties up the inventory until it is either cancelled (I assume that’s what will happen) or it finally “pays”.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks

The first 30 minutes is the “cool off” period for the buyer - they can cancel during that time.
If there is a problem with the card payment then the item will remain as pending until the buyer’s payment is cleared. The card may be out of date or something similar. Items can remain pending for quite a while - 10 days or longer even.

It’s strange though as despite the ‘cool-off’ period I often see orders go from Pending to Unshipped very quickly, certainly less than half an hour. Maybe we don’t always see them go pending as soon as the order is placed.

Sometimes they come through after a week or even more. Sometimes they end up cancelled after a few days. If a buyer’s card is refused it can take them days to sort out the issue and it may even be a while before they see the email telling them there is a problem. The main worry is that you can have a pending item when you go on holiday, temporarily closing your shop, and the order comes through while you are away. Sellers have been suspended for not fulfilling such orders in time. Also, if the order is cancelled it is worth checking whether or not it has been put back into your live inventory.
