Changing browse nodes - help needed

I have several products which, for reasons unknown, have a completely irrelevant browse node assigned.

To remedy this i have downloaded an “update product details” spreadsheet, entered the SKU, desired browse node and set to “partialupdate” - the file uploads fine but then generates an error stating the browse node “data is different from what’s already in the Amazon catalog” - well yes, thats precisely why i am uploading the file - to update the data! We hold brand registry for the items in question.

Any ideas how to resolve without having to resort to seller support which is normally a complete waste of time?
