Photos of hair products to use for my website

Hi All,

Please can any of you who have your own e-commerce website linked to Amazon or even if it’s not linked to Amazon, where do you get your photos from for the products that you bought from Wholesalers? I am currently selling hair products. I know we can’t just use photos we find anywhere due to copyright infringement, but I cannot find anywhere online where people get their photos from.

Also from looking on other hair & beauty websites, these websites are just showing the front image of the products and no back picture with ingredients, etc. Most of these e-commerce websites look like they have the same photos with just a white background.

I have tried contacting the company that owns the products to see if they can provide me with a licensing agreement but have not had a reply yet.

I’m also not sure if we can just take photos of the products ourselves and upload them as we didn’t manufacture these products.

If you have any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks

All my suppliers are happy for me to use the photos they provide but also encourage us to take our own as the more photos you have the better it is, yours should be ok with you using them. Otherwise take your own photos, there are free or inexpensive tools to remove the background and improve them. If you have the right to sell the products, you should have the right to market them or use the brand owner’s material. Don’t they have a FAQ on their site? It’s good that you are asking this question actually, I was running a website for a photographer and it was an ongoing battle to ask people to remove the photos they had used without permission. So many people think that whatever is online can be used.

There’s stock photography you can insert your product into, though it might be worth hiring a photographer. High quality images are important.
