Possible missing outbound parcel
Hello People, I am in a bit of dilemma now. I have always used EVRI courier services for my shipping as I buy the labels directly from amazon and can see the tracking details. For the first time I bought the Royal label to ship to a customer in isle of Guernsey. Item was shipped on the 7th of may and several attempts to confirm delivery from Royal Mail has failed. As according to them , its a second class postage hence its "untracked".
I regret using royal mail and buying the postage I bought for the product as its worth over £400. I have not heard from customer either to know if they have received it or not. I am just worried about what steps to take if Royal Mail claims item is missing as they said I am eligible for only £20 for missing parcels. How do I get my money or product back as this would be a huge loss to my business .

It's untracked so you have no information either way whether it has been delivered or not. Royal Mail will not tell you.
But sending a £400 item with second class, a service you were aware was untracked was rather short-sighted.
You need to choose a better service for such sales. Sure, they will cost more but this is what you need to build in to your pricing.
As you said, the customer has not contacted you. The chances are the item has arrived. Most customers are decent and honest and hopefully, yours is one of them. But if they claim non-receipt (truthfully or fraudulently), you will have no leg to stand on at all. Sorry.
In my experience, Royal Mail is extremely reliable but you do need to choose the most appropriate service for your sales.

Totally agree with above post - sending a £400 item by standard mail was unwise - you should have used SD - and even if you had used Evri, the compensation would have still only been £20. Why do you regret using RM ? - I agree that RM is usually very reliable, and I have never had any regrets using them.
Hopefully the customer is honest and they have received it, and you will not have to learn a hard lesson.

Although I understand your concern, I'm a serial tracking checker myself, I think you're worrying about nothing. I can't remember the last domestic RM parcel that went missing and my last international one was in 2022.
Many others have reported that claiming for missing parcels with any shipping bought through Amazon is impossible anyway. If you claim from the carrier they say it's Amazon's account; claim through Amazon they say take it up with carrier.
Personally for items such as the value of yours, I would buy the appropriate shipping outside of Amazon and upload the tracking to the order.
