Permanent Resolution of My Inactive Amazon Seller Account

Hello,

I have been selling on Amazon UK for a short time 2 years ago, as an EU member. I registered for VAT in the UK. When I stopped selling, I closed the listing, deregistered from VAT in the UK and closed my company. However, I could not yet close the Amazon Seller Central, as the account needs to stay open for 3 months to cover reimbursements etc.

The problem is that Amazon suspended my account when they found out my UK VAT number was no longer valid before I was able to close the account. It has now been suspended for two years. I've tried to close it, but the process requires reactivating the account first. To do that, I need to provide a UK VAT number, which I no longer have due to my closed company. It's a frustrating loop.

I'm fine with my account remaining permanently inactive instead of being closed, if there are no other options. However, I'm tired of monitoring it to avoid unexpected charges. E.g. Lately, I've noticed that Amazon automatically enrolled me as a professional seller in Mexico and registered me as an Amazon business in Japan.

Any tips on how to be relieved from Amazon-related issues once and for all?

Thanks.

You need to make sure that you have downgraded from professional selling plan (to individual plan) in all the marketplaces so you don't pay any more monthly fees, and possibly make sure holiday settings are on in each marketlplace, and you have no inventory listed anywhere.

I guess you just need to let the account go dormant rather than try to reactivate to then fully close it.
