Why is the VAT rate sometimes 0%?

My products come with 20% VAT but I've noticed on the invoices that Amazon produces for each sale that sometimes they state the VAT rate at 0%. Why is this? The sales are all within the UK only and although I occasionally have a "business customer" most of the 0% VAT sales are to ordinary people.

Have you checked the product tax code against your listing to make sure it is set correctly to be standard VAT (blank/empty normally means standard VAT)

I take it the product should be standard rate and not zero rated?
