How is everyone doing sales wise for the new year?

We started selling on this platform in November of 2022 and I would say August 2023 is where we found our "Rhythm". Ever since, we have been doing more sales month of month consistently with the exception of 2 months that we had an inventory hiccup occur.

End of year 2024 we had our best numbers yet ending the year with a multi 6 figure total revenue and profit. Even this January, we are now up 11% over December.

I see many posting about no sales or some sort of sale shutdown, which is shocking to me.

So how is everyone doing and what are your plans to increase sales in 2025?

This is normally our slowest time of year; but this year is down considerably from last.

We're spending time getting more items listed on other platforms, and just riding it out. With our business model (used books here; book and other items elsewhere), there's not much else we can do. Although I'm going to start a feed on Bluesky of some of our items, see if that helps, and maybe try to bump up other social media platforms.

I believe it depends on your products, the amount of competition in that category, the ever-shrinking margins from endless amazon fees and direct Chinese factory competition. The one guarantee with selling on Amazon is with all the sales tracking software available, if a product or category is doing REALLY well, you will have x10 to x20 the competition within a year or so. Don't take the good months for granted and be ready to pivot or persevere. *unless you own a patent to protect the product sales, be ready to squeeze those margins. :-)

We're down less than 10%.

Still selling but orders are inexpensive/older/flawed (ie: remainders, vintage or classic books without DJ's, etc. ). Our condition notes are extensive, so buyer should know what they're getting.

Think the present tariff situation, which many don't understand, has people spooked. A lot of folks are attempting the NO BUY 25 Challenge or PROJECT PAN. We use every bit before replacing an item(plus I always add water to foundation or cleaning products to make them go further) but am of a different generation than the influencers, who think they've come up with something NEW and DIFFERENT. Anyone w/ Depression era parents learned these tricks long ago.

Started in mid December 2024 and January was pretty good. February, however, is being horrible for now.

Amazon keeps bragging about how good sales are for amazon. We are all in the same boat as most sellers. sales are down.

Guess who is selling on Temu? Amazon is selling on Temu under the name Ice Armor.

Guess who is delivering some of our Temu orders. AMAZON.

Who is your selling partner?

Down 50 percent from previous years. As a veteran seller, this is disheartening. I am confident that the dip in sales is due to sites such as T-emu, with many of its sellers using amazon to drop ship on this platform. It would be wise for amazon to rectify this as soon as possible. I don't have an answer for this, but then again that is not for me to figure it out.

For instance, there are chinese sellers selling NOTHING in my product category, except a custom item with a white square that says "custom item" that a buyer can upload the design. I make customized products. Guess where my sales are going? They're going to the seller who literally has not listed a single product, but is dependent on amazon's handmade custom item to upload whatever the buyer wants - including MY designs that I created for a fraction of the cost that I cannot compete with.

It's not just disheartening - it is sickening. I've been here over 12 years and built my store from scratch.
