Delivery restrictions

Going crazy here…tried SS with no help as usual.

I have several oversize or aerosol items that I would like to restrict delivery to mainland UK as too big/restricted for RM so has to go courier.

e.g https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B9AE5V0

I have seen sellers do this:
e.g https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073PD3JC9

From product details:

“Delivery information: We cannot deliver certain products outside mainland UK ( Details). We will only be able to confirm if this product can be delivered to your chosen address when you enter your delivery address at checkout.”

How do they restrict the item?
I’ve tried shipping templates to no avail (cannot charge more on standard shipping for non mainland Uk)

I’ve also tried editing individual listings to see if it’s in there somewhere…can’t see it!

Anyone know the answer??!

As far as I am aware you must offer to all valid UK addresses. As far as I know there is no workaround to exclude postcode areas. You can search on this forum for similar questions. usually where the seller has large or heavy goods that cost significantly more to ship offshore.

It appears that the listings you gave as examples are in violation of Amazon policy. Probably the seller cancels the order to postcodes that they do not wish to ship items to.

Yup I know the answer (cos it made me mad)!!

This is only allowed/possible for FBA.

I wanted to do the same for some of my products that can’t ship outside mainland due to hazardous category (like yourself), but found that only Amazon themselves can restrict like this.

Basically when a buyer tries to buy from Amazon - when they place their order then Amazon system refuses the order if their postcode is outside mainland.

Level playing field eh??

I used to have this comment in condition notes till Amazon removed the condition notes section. its not a cost thing - some products CANNOT pass airline or port safety checks.

We share your pain.

We email the buyer and explain the situation regarding their location and restricted items requiring a courier service and offer them a choice, additional payment to cover the cost of the order or they can cancel it.

Most will pay but if not they have requested a cancellation.

You will always get a few who moan about it just explain that only Royal Mail are obliged to carry to all UK for free, couriers class your location as outside mainland Uk services, nothing you can do about it.
