Best Thermal Printer

Hi, looking for the best thermal printer for printing 4x6 shipping labels and FNSKU. Will be shipping with DPD outside of amazon. Have seen recommendations for Zebra or Brother but would like personal experience from using instead of online reviews from YT or Google.

Happy to pay for quality and longevity.

Thanks.

We use an old Citizen CLP-521 that we picked up for £50 from the bay. Use it for DPD, Fedex, UPS and if we need larger labels for some of our products, which include further info, we template it to print from the Citizen from Word.

If we require smaller labels for products we also use a Dymo 450.

Search the forums, this is a topic that comes up fairly regularly.
A lot use the Zebra GK420D, as it’s reliable, you get free labels and there is a fairly decent discount from RM when you get an account with them.

But to be honest, a thermal printer, is a thermal printer. They really aren’t that much different.

I bought a MUNBYN ITPP941 last year and it seems excellent to me. .Can’t think of any problem at all, zero paper jams. Although I get the feeling with this technology all the major makes are going to be pretty good.

Points
This model isn’t wireless, standard USB connection to PC, so won’t be suitable for all users. The labels sit outside the machine in a flat pile (fanfold) behind the machine which is an advantage for me as it has a lower height than the models where a roll is loaded into a machine and fits my desk in a a better way

I agree with @NEil - We have been using a GK420d for years, it’s been really reliable and was heavily discounted when we purchased. (You watch, it’ll break tomorrow now I’ve said that!!)

Been using Zebra GK420d, since I started this thermal labels, though not as long as some on here its been a while now (a year give or take) and I’ve had no problems whatsoever from it.

Got it through my Royal Mail OBA so it came discounted

Have you set up your DPD account yet? as DPD provide our thermal printers for free as part our DPD account and so do APC Overnight. the only one we have had to purchase is for Click & Drop.

So I wouldn’t go buying anything until you have a DPD account manager assigned to you, but I can tell you that the DPD system is primarily set up to use Citizen printers, you can use others but they are more difficult to set up and get right

On the topic at hand though, one of our Citizen DPD printers recently packed up and DPD sent us a TSC DA210 one to replace it. They look cheap and are cheap but it does the job as well as any other we have.
