Evri chargind ridiculous amount of 'Adjustment' charges through Amazon. This time they have charged just under £20k
This is becoming beyond ridiculous now being charged these hidden adjustment charges after months without no prior warning. They have claimed they have charged oversized parcel surcharges although our parcels are within the dimensions allowed. The first time they charged us over £30k they told us we had under-declared the weights although we are on a fixed weight Tier of up to 15kg. Now this time they are sayign our dimensions have been exceeding the limits.
Looks like they are finding ways to extort money from small sellers. I have noticed in the forums a number of sellers complaining regarding the same issues.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem lately with Evri and if so, what have you done to counter this and have you managed to get a refund?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ask them to evidence it- it's unlikely they can. We have had similar issues with them last year (although not 30K)

This happened to us back in September 2023, over a year ago, and it seems nothing has changed. This is why we stopped using Evri. For us, the issue involved around £10,000 in one go. Our parcels were not oversized; this was unequivocally an issue with the Amazon/Evri system, as confirmed directly to me.
While we managed to recover most of it through dealing with our Evri account manager, it took months to resolve. Amazon, despite the fact that it was their buy shipping, took zero responsibility and refused to help. It seems they’re content to let third parties exploit their merchants.
To make matters worse, a year after we stopped using Evri, in September 2024, we noticed new "adjustment charges" on our account amounting to around £1,000 for buyshipping consignments from Sept 2023!. It's absolutely criminal.

EXTORTION !!!! We are the same, just taking money without reason, explanation and/or proof. Looks likely that they will end up in court .

I have been being charge on the Grattan invoice for additional charges that are then refunded by a credit note from Grattan. The debit amounts on the invoice are on may account but the credit entries never appear. This has been going on for several months now and I raise it every time a credit note is issued. As present no reply and no refund to my account.

It seems that August of this year something changed , we have always had to weird 10p , 50p surcharges the credit invoices , but from august last year we saw massive overcharges , 2kg parcels that are machine made and packaged in a tube so no possible way of them being out of scope being surcharged at a rate of £14.40 per parcel plus the initial £4.20.
To compound this issue, we are now receiving overcharges for transactions that occurred nearly a year ago. This practice is very concerning , raising questions about its legality?

when you say you were on a tier of up to 15kg , was this them surcharging through amazon or your direct bought through Evri site?

In this situation, pursuing a class action lawsuit may be a more effective approach for the group of UK-based Amazon sellers affected by Evri's surcharges. Here are some reasons and considerations
Advantages of a Class Action Lawsuit
Efficiency: A class action allows the sellers to pool their resources and share the costs of legal representation, making it more financially feasible for individuals who might not have the means to pursue a case alone.
Commonality of Claims: Since all the sellers are facing similar issues with Evri, the case can be presented as a collective grievance, which can simplify the legal process and make it easier to establish liability.
Stronger Negotiation Position: A collective approach may provide more leverage in negotiations with Evri, as the company may be more inclined to settle with a large group rather than face multiple individual lawsuits.
Consistency in Outcomes: A class action can produce a uniform outcome for all affected sellers, ensuring that everyone receives fair treatment based on the same legal principles.
Type of Legal Case
The sellers may pursue a class action lawsuit based on:
Breach of Contract: If Evri's actions constitute a breach of the terms agreed upon when using their services, the sellers can argue that they fulfilled their obligations while Evri did not.
Misrepresentation or Fraud: If Evri misrepresented its pricing policies or surcharge practices, the sellers may have grounds to claim that they were led to incur unjustified charges.
Unfair Trading Practices: Under UK consumer law, the sellers may be able to argue that Evri's practices are unfair and detrimental to consumers, potentially violating the Consumer Rights Act.
Next Steps
Consult a Legal Professional: The group should seek advice from a legal professional experienced in class action lawsuits and commercial disputes to assess the viability of their case.
Gather Evidence: Collect documentation related to the surcharges, including correspondence with Evri, shipping records, and any evidence of the agreed-upon terms.
Consider Alternative Dispute Resolution: Before proceeding with litigation, it may be worth exploring mediation or arbitration as potential avenues for resolving the dispute more amicably.

Here's a post from another forum which is interesting
"NAL but I am an engineer at an evri hub. The weigh table that weighs your package also takes a picture of the package as it goes across. Sometimes depending on how the parcels are fed onto the belts 2 can cross the weigh table at the same time. Ask them for the picture and see if this is the case for you."
