Account deactivated utility bill required but I'm a lodger
Hi there,
My account has been deactivated right after I set up however they have asked for utility bills and I have none due to being a lodger. I have read other forums where they state that I can send a bill from someone who lives in the house and then my bank statement all with the same address on it. But I can’t ask my landlord for this and it would be quite invasive, I am happy to send a p60 a dbs anything ( I buy ny phones upright and have a pay as you go sim- I’m old school) so I genuinely don’t have the required utility bill documents unless an Apple Pay invoice monthly subscription classes as mobile phone (not sure).
Help please

Amazon are legally required to check your identity and need a utility bill at the name and address you have registered with them to do this. The only other bill they accept is a mobile bill in your name and address. Nothing else.
But a mobile bill with a contract.

even if you did supply the bill from your landlord with proof you lived at the same address, in all likelihood, because it’s a less common scenario, you are likely to find seller support don’t accept it anyway, because they haven’t been trained in that scenario.
It will be much easier and quicker for you, as above, to get the cheapest contract mobile you can. Think of it as a business expense I guess.

I could be wrong but I thought only a landline telephone bill was accepted and not a mobile telephone bill.
If you have a driving license you may be able to use that. The help says if you do not have the required documentation to call support and they will guide you through other forms of identity checks they will accept. Although the paper copy of the driving license is now abolished, you can authorise third parties to view your details online via a 'check code'.
Also what about a credit card/bank statement or any loan agreement or insurance policy?
Yes it is a legal requirement that they run the checks - but this applies to any financial service so there must be ways to prove address when you are just a lodger.
I think you are going have to contact support to sort this one out and ask them what other forms of proof you can use.
