I called FedEx, who said I have to contact Amazon to call FedEx to get the shipment returned. I chatted with Amazon who says this is out of their hands. What is to be done in this situation?

Did you use Amazon to ship? If so, then they need to contact Fedex.

I get this message all the time when I drop off Fedex packages at 3rd party fedex drop offs like Walgreens. Get lots of emails from customers asking why there is a fedex delay due to customs. It's just an error that no one wants to admit exists.
