Patent Design Question
Hi guys
Just a quick question as cant seem to find any information regarding this, how simple can a design patent actually be for example if i wanted to register a single lighting bolt which is a very generic design would i still need to patent that or is it so simple that its just avaible for everyone and cannot be patented.
Would appreciate any help on this.

You can’t patent something that is generic. The whole point of patenting something is to prevent others from stealing your unique idea.

Yes that’s why i was curious to what is actually considered generic or not, i understand shapes such as circles etc can not be patented but just wanted to make sure something like a lightning bolt cannot be patented as its included in a design of mine
