the self-delivery option when i tested it as a trial has not shown up on the vtr report which means its exempt and will not cause your vtr rate to go down

Bet Amazon are going to wonder where all these enterprising individuals with UK wide logistics networks have sprung up from soon!

How long before self delivery is removed as an option due to being abused

Wasn’t there something a while ago about Amazon trialing self delivery and local pick ups in some areas ?

Before they introduced the VTR we used to deliver orders locally ourselfs. Customer used to get the order within 1 hour or sooner. On the tracking information we used to type hand delivered. Upon delivery we used to take a photograph which would used as proof should there be claim for none delivery. If the customer wasnt in we would take a photograph of the door. We only had one positive feedback saying wow quick delivery.
The new process you are expected to use buy shipping and for larger items you can use your own courier service. If you deliver the order even if you have used the buy shipping depending on what the item ordered is and whether you want to dispatch the order tracked or not.

All my self deliveries, the customer has been delighted to receive the item so quick and with a ‘personal’ touch. I always take a photo of the door. But sometimes it’s not worth it. You look it up on Google maps and it’s a tenement with a secure door. Sometimes you try anyway, but no one lets you in. So sometimes, even if it’s a street away, I just post it. Depends on the hassle.
But whomever is thinking of abusing the system. Don’t. Bad enough having to buy my bloomin’ letter post from here.

I’ve only done it once or twice. One guy a few years ago, living literally directly opposite our shop, placed an Amazon order and we delivered it by hand within a few minutes. He seemed a bit put out by it acted a bit snotty. I don’t bother now. Everything gets sent by courier even if they’re within walking distance.
