The visual aspect 👀
Hello Sellers,

Eye popping isn't it?
Well, when it comes to shopping, the visual aspect is also crucial. The quality, clarity and composition of your images play a significant role in attracting buyers and encouraging them to take a closer look. To make a lasting first impression on buyers, consider the following examples when updating your images:
Main Image
On pure white background (RGB colour values of 255, 255, 255)
Has high resolution zoom (at least 1600 pixels on the longest side)
Be high quality photographs of the actual product. Graphics, illustrations, mockups, or placeholders are not allowed
Exclude any accessories or props that might confuse the customer, text that is not part of the product, logos, watermarks, or inset images
Some categories have different requirements for the main image, take a peek at which specific category they are listed in
Lifestyle Images
Add between 3-5 additional lifestyle images
Show different angles of the product
Add lifestyle images that stage your product being used, modelled, or displayed, helping your customers connect and envision it in their life. You can include props and various backgrounds that highlight your product
Add a video (if possible)

@Winston_AmazonPlease can you clarify what the size requirements are for the main image on listings as I've seen/ heard different ones from different people within Amazon:
you say 1600 pixels at least on the longest side, the image guide says 1000 pixels minimum for the zoom function to work and another Amazon person has told me that images should be 2000 x 2000 pixels!
Obviously that's quite a range of sizes and having to resize the main image in our THOUSANDS of products is no small job so we need to know what we should be working to.
Seller_GK5kQEXpZI6fr
We have quite a few listings where the product photos (not uploaded by us) are terrible and not adherent to Amazon's guidelines.
We've uploaded beautiful product photos with great lifestyle imagery but they just sit in the back end and Amazon doesn't seem to want to use these much better photos.

@Winston_AmazonHi. I'm not sure if the correct place to report this, but anyway - I know of a lot of listing pages where the images are poor or incorrect or have text on them that is not part of the products:
(1) I have tried to report most the affected listing pages to Amazon (on the "report link" on the listing pages or "report abuse" sections in seller central) many times in the past to try and get them to fix the images, but most the time nothing is done, and the images remain unchanged.
(2) If any images do get changed, they get changed to the WRONG images (that do not match the product page).
(3) In the rare instances the images get changed and fixed, after a few weeks of them being correct, somehow they get messed up again!
And it's nothing I'm doing that is messing up the images! The listing pages and images for them were created by someone else long ago. I'm just trying to sell my identical products using the existing pages, so I'm not responsible for the images being wrong, poor, or messed up. In fact, for many of the listings I have tried to upload to Amazon my own higher quality images to try and set them as the main images. But the listing pages just won't take them, despite most my scans should be roughly around 1600 pixels or more (the requirement for images).
Anyway, here is my long list of ASIN listing pages that have problems with the images:
The ones below have images that don't match the product listing pages (either all the images don't match or some of the images don't match):
B00004CJ56 - Gone With The Wind [VHS]
B00004RR8Y - (Disneys) Aladdin [VHS]
B00004CR87 - Rob Roy [VHS]
B00004CPA4 - The Pelican Brief [VHS]
B00004CTGX - Mission Impossible [VHS]
B00004CPKC - Look Who’s Talking Now [VHS]
B00004CLK6 - Look Who’s Talking Too [VHS]
B00005782O - (Disneys) Dinosaur [VHS]
B00004CVTE - Conspiracy Theory [VHS]
B00004R6RK - The American President [VHS]
The following listing page images have other problems:
0563477555 - Doctor Who: The Highlanders [Audio CD] = The images on this listing page only show the INSIDE-COVER of the product for this listing page + they show the product to be torn and dirty. This makes this product unclear and unwelcoming to Buyers.
0563477563 - Doctor Who: The Macra Terror [Audio CD] = The image is too small.
0563535067 - Doctor Who: The Underwater Menace [Audio CD] = The image is too small.
056349476X - Daleks (Doctor Who) [Audio CD] = The image is too small. This product is a metal case and inside there are x3 Doctor Who [Audio CD cases] - so some images of the inside contents of this product would be ideal for this listing page. Also the title of this product should be renamed to include the titles inside this product: [Audio CD's]: “Doctor Who, The Power Of The Daleks” + “Doctor Who, The Evil Of The Daleks” + “My Life As A Dalek”.
The following have "text" (dates) on the images that should not be there (they are all "Star Trek [VHS] titles of some sort - I will only note the ASIN's, not the full titles):

So, anyway, those are my listing page images I know of that have problems. I don't know if you @Winston_Amazon or someone else can do anything with them? At the very least the ones where the images don't match the product listing pages AT ALL need to be fixed (I've reported them so many times to Amazon now and still nothing has happened to them). Sigh.
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
Here is a tip for everyone, when you send Amazon a report about a listing page showing incorrect image(s), include the word:
HIJACKED.
Most my my previous times I reported to amazon incorrect images on listing pages, nothing happened. So a couple of days ago I sent them reports again (which I usually word something like: so-and-so listing page image is WRONG, please fix it, the images are meant to show so-and-so product), but I also added this sentence to my reports:
Possibly this listing page has been HIJACKED by an incorrect product.
And guess what? Within about a day many of the listing pages with incorrect images were fixed!
Of course, it could just be a coincidence that they finally got someone to fix the listing page images, but maybe that single word does make a difference? I got to keep an eye on the listing pages over the next few days/weeks though, just in case the fixed images suddenly get messed up again for no reason.
Sadly though, not all the listing pages I reported as "hijacked" have been fixed. One or two look as though they might still be in the process of being fixed (my inventory images might show the correct image, while the listing page doesn't).
One other really stupid thing that happens though: I've noticed sometimes that when the images on a listing page finally get fixed, they stay fixed for maybe a day or so, then for literally no reason they get changed back to the same wrong images again! What is going on when that happens?!?! The worst offender I know of is this product listing page:
B00004RR8Y - Disney's Aladdin (VHS)
Currently when this was typed, my inventory image shows the correct product image, but the listing page doesn't (the images show a NON Disney version of Aladdin VHS). I have reported this particular listing page DOZENS OF TIMES in the past - most the time my reports are ignored, but when they do finally get through and the images are looked at + changed the images always end up reverting back to wrong images after a day or two. I wonder if it's something to do with Amazon not liking Disney-VHS's on their website for whatever reason (many random Disney-VHS titles were literally deleted from the database some months ago for seemingly no good reason) - perhaps there is something similar going on with this Aladdin-VHS title, or perhaps there is just some sort of fault with the listing page? Other than that it just doesn't make sense why it keeps getting messed up! Or any listing page images for that matter - sigh.
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
I've double checked the listing images that had supposedly been fixed, and guess what, they are messed up again!
I wonder why I even bother... Sigh.
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
@Winston_Amazon OK, I have an updated list of listing pages where the images are messed up. This time I will mention only the ones where the images show product that does not match the listing page at all (this time I will not include pages where the image shows the correct image but has some unwanted text on top of the image). Some of the following are ones I mentioned in a previous post, which (same as before) I have reported to Amazon multiple times now and still nothing has happened or they get fixed (eventually) then get messed up again literally a day or two later!
B00004CIDK - The Bridge At Remagen (most the images for this are wrong + the images for this have been fixed and then broken multiple times now!!!!)
B00004CJ56 - Gone With The Wind (all the images for this are wrong)
B00004WA63 - The Sixth Sense (all the images for this are wrong)
B00004CPA4 - The Pelican Brief (some of the images for this are wrong)
B00004CVTE - Conspiracy Theory (all the images for this are wrong)
B00004CI9E - Big (some of the images for this are wrong)
B00004CTGX - Mission Impossible (all the images for this are wrong)
B00004CPKC - Look Who's Talking Now (all the images for this are wrong - they show a "similar title" product)
B00005782O - (Disneys) Dinosaur (all the images for this are wrong)
B00004COTZ - Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Volume 15 (all the images for this are wrong + the image on this isn't even a VHS or any kind of home-media item!!!)
B00004CYEP - Star Trek Voyager, Volume 5.2 (all the images for this are wrong - they show a "similar title" product)
B00004CYT0 - Star Trek Voyager, Volume 5.5 (all the images for this are wrong - they show a "similar title" product)
B00004CZQ9 - Star Trek Voyager, Volume 5.11 (all the images for this are wrong - they show a "similar title" product)
B00004WI8E - Star Trek Voyager, Volume 6.9 (all the images for this are wrong - they show a "similar title" product)
@Winston_Amazon what do you think is the more effective way of reporting incorrect images to Amazon:
(1) Report the images by clicking on the "report an issue with this product" button on the listing pages themselves.
OR
(2) Go to the "report abuse" pages and report the incorrect images on listing pages, there.
As I've said, I've tried both of them many times in the past, but overall effectiveness of either of them I have no idea. I just want these listing pages (which I am selling stuff on) to be fixed ASAP!
Winston_Amazon
Hey there @Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On,
Hmmm you can try raising it via Seller Support and I can flag that case.
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
I have tried Seller Support in the past also, but as many people know now, it is virtually impossible to work with Seller Support anymore - so that's why I don't count Seller Support as a "report incorrect stuff" option.
99% of the time Seller Support is all "bots" and/or automated responses, and most say something like only the "owner" / "brand owner" of the listing page is allowed to make the changes. Problem is: I am not the owner of these listing pages (I'm just listing my own copies under the existing pages) + most the original owners of these listing pages are long gone from Amazon.
----
One new problem I am having though that has just happened, I wonder @Winston_Amazon can you help with:
I am trying to upload an image of a DVD-sleeve-cover (flat paper scan) of a DVD-title I have listed for sale (just to add to my own marketplace listing, not the main listing page). But every time I upload it to my inventory listing and save, I return to it some time later (I give it time to save), but I find for some reason the image hasn't saved. In fact I got a recent email from amazon (which I think is connected to this image failing to upload) that said "The image you recently uploaded has been removed". The image is a direct scan (with nothing else on the image) + nothing rude or inappropriate on it + high quality 3152x2156 size + jpg format - so surely it should meet all size quality type requirements? The only thing I can think of, is much of the right-side of the DVD-sleeve-cover image is just plain white - could this be why it's being rejected? If so, that's hardly fair since it's EXACTLY HOW IT LOOKS ON THE COVER!

Winston_Amazon
Hey there @Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On,
Let me flag this from my end 💪💪.
Winston_Amazon
It's not everyday you see Hilary Duff, I remember her being on Lizzie McGuire nearly every day after school.
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
I managed to get all the "Star Trek" listing pages images fixed, the ones I mentioned in my post yesterday. I uploaded some more of my own images which have now been made the main listing page images - so those can be crossed off the list (that's something at least).
Am still trying to get those other listing page images of random movie titles fixed though. I wonder if Amazon starts ignoring people who make error reports of listing pages too many times? Wouldn't surprise me if they do do that (if they do perhaps they think it's like spamming or something).
Winston_Amazon
Hey there @Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On,
That is good news! Live long and Prosper,
So all these
B00004COTZ - Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Volume 15 (all the images for this are wrong + the image on this isn't even a VHS or any kind of home-media item!!!)
Have been resolve right?
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
Yup, all those were wrong in one way or another, and now they are resolved fixed with my uploaded images (flat vhs-sleeve-cover scans mostly).
One thing about those star trek vhs listings (and/or other star trek vhs product listings) is I am literally the only seller currently selling many of them! So it was up to me to try and get them fixed - I couldn't possibly wait on some other seller(s) to report them.
Hopefully some other sellers might report those other product listing pages of random VHS movies that have messed up images I've mentioned in previous posts (there are other sellers selling them) - since maybe Amazon are not paying attention anymore to my reports I send them.
Winston_Amazon
Alright, thanks for getting back to me with this, I have flagged it so let's see what happens, keep me up to date if you receive any further notification!
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
OK, so yesterday some listing pages I have mentioned previously with messed up images had their images fixed - yays! BUT logging on today I find they have revertted back to the wrong images - YET AGAIN! Many big SIGHS. And TBH I am expecting those that have been fixed to soon get messed up again too (it just keeps happening for all of them sooner or later it seems - given a few days at least). Anyway, so they are like this now:
B00004CIDK - The Bridge At Remagen (fixed - yays!)
B00004CPA4 - The Pelican Brief (fixed - yays!)
B00004CJ56 - Gone With The Wind (nothing changed I think - all the images for this remain wrong)
B00004WA63 - The Sixth Sense (nothing changed I think - all the images for this remain wrong)
B00004CI9E - Big (nothing changed I think - some of the images for this remain wrong)
B00004CTGX - Mission Impossible (nothing changed I think - all the images for this remain wrong)
And the following are the ones that were fixed yesterday, but today I find they are messed up revertted back to the wrong images again:
B00004CVTE - Conspiracy Theory (all the images for this are wrong)
B00004CPKC - Look Who's Talking Now (all the images for this are wrong - they show a "similar title" product)
B00005782O - (Disneys) Dinosaur (all the images for this are wrong)
Gaaaa!!!!! This is just crazy - how does this keep happening? Is there anything you can do to help?
Seller_ZJhFeE3tNKzfh
No luck @Winston_Amazon. We've even broken the variation down into Single ASINs now and zero luck.
We don't even have a Main Image. Please can someone look into this again? Again this is what is going on in the background. We were told every image bar the main image had been deleted. It looks like the opposite was in fact done.

Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
Hi again.
So I've waited a few weeks for those listing page images I've mentioned in previous posts to be fixed. NOPE, they still haven't. So I've reported the listing pages to Amazon (yet again).
Oh and guess what? I have found one more listing page (that I sell on anyway) with incorrect images on it:
B00004CKP8 - Chronicles Of Narnia - Prince Caspian
The images on this page were correct up until perhaps a couple of days ago, and have been correct for YEARS (as far as I know)!!! Why now have the images been messed up? They currently show "The Blues Brothers (VHS)" - this product title isn't even close to the correct product! SIGH. Anyway, I've reported this listing page also.
Seller_2hS4s2SbSs4On
Ooooooo! Three of the listing pages I've mentioned in the past have had their images fixed at last! Yays! I guess the reports I sent yesterday about these pages got through (at last)!
Big - B00004CI9E
Conspiracy Theory - B00004CVTE
Look Who's Talking Now - B00004CPKC
Although I got to keep an eye on them for a few days - I've seen others be fixed in the past, then the next day they get messed up again.
