FBM shipments to EU B2B customers (or over 150 EUR)

So we are based in the UK and as well as doing FBA in the EU we also fulfill some orders by FBM for various reasons (kit variants with low sales velocity / large kits that ship in more than one package).

We ship all B2B/over 150 EUR orders by DDP, which was my understanding of the rules.

The problem seems to be that we end up paying VAT twice on these orders, we pay once to our courier and again when we complete our VAT return for that country (our accountant, a major Amazon accountant says we cannot use the customs invoice to reclaim the VAT already paid).

Our accountant claims that they have other customers that solve in two ways

1 - they suck it up and just pay vat twice (who on earth can afford to do this???)

2 - they ship DDU

Can someone please point me in the right direction on this, for EU B2B orders is DDU an option? I notice in this link that Amazon state that for seller fulfilled orders the following incoterms are required, 1 - DDP, 2 - DAP (same as DDU).

So now I'm really confused, can we ship DAP and let the customer pick up the import fees and VAT for these orders?
