Apple products being gated, being asked for reseller status. Anyone had this email?

Dear seller,

Amazon is constantly working to enhance the customer experience, and one of the ways we do this is by increasing the selection of products we know customers want. As part of a new agreement with Apple, we are working with a select group of Apple authorised resellers to offer a selection of Apple and Beats products, including new releases, on Amazon’s websites.

You are receiving this message because you are currently selling, or have previously sold, Apple or Beats products. Your offers for those products will soon be removed from Amazon’s websites in Europe (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain). Please contact Apple if you would like to apply to become an authorised reseller on Amazon.

To prepare for this change, you may continue selling these products on Amazon until 4th January, 2019. If you have any remaining inventory of these products in Amazon fulfilment centres on 5th January, 2019, you will need to create a Removal Order. Amazon will reimburse you for the return or disposal fees until 4th February, 2019. Please note that you will not be able to send shipments of these products to Amazon fulfilment centres effective 1st December, 2018.

Thank you for selling on Amazon.

Regards,
Amazon Services Europe

It sucks doesn’t it…Same thing earlier this year with Canon/Nikon products.

Amazon is closing in on 2nd hand sellers and those who piggyback on other companies brands. Constant changes, which we can only try to adapt to.

Yes i got this email today. 70% of my business is at stake. I buy all my stock from one of apple trade in partners and i am not an authorised. Will start trying to find out more on monday. Its a shame but amazon will lose out over all as they will lose a lot of seller fees. I am not sure how to sort it.

If these are Trade in products they are USED I’m surprised if they are also blocked the USED element of this , New I can understand wanting to ensure any major brand being sold is genuine and authorised.

I’m not sure how that’s going to work as I sell iPods mainly of the used variety. Very little of my sales are iPhones and I don’t get involved in iPads.

I’m at a loss as to why as amazon asked me to pump in stock for the Xmas pre and post rush and I’m now in a creek with no paddle.

Here’s the main thread, where an Amazon executive moderator answered all seller questions regarding the Apple resale restriction to authorised sellers:

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/forums/t/stop-selling-apple/427709/19.

The only other way how to be able to continue selling Apple items without being an authorised reseller is to join the “Amazon Renewed” program, which has very strict conditions and I am not even sure if it’s available in Europe or only in the US:

“For approval to list on Apple brand in Consumer Electronics categories , we require invoices dated from trailing 90 days that total $2.5 million in Apple products. Invoices have to be directly from a national Wireless carrier or retailer with over $5 billion in annual sales.”

I believe that Amazon system got broken because of this. It is impossible to list some of the products released by Apple Records in the Music category:

Apple Inc.and Apple Records are two completely different things. Apple Inc. is a tech company (iPhones, iPads, etc.) and Apple Records is a record label founded by the Beatles in 1968 as a division of Apple Corps Ltd. Amazon should fix it asap

Just read this today, how heartbreaking.

Been selling used iPods for many many years without any issues, and it seems in January my business will cease.

This will be the death of many small sellers on here, many honest hardworking individuals who spent many years building up a business.

Just terrible news.

I’ve had to give the news yesterday to my employees that they don’t have a job end of the month. Some of them with young kids and mortgages to pay.

I’m in a similar position and personally feel sick this has happened. I’ve looked after these guys for five years, paid my taxes, dealt with countless bogus claims with seller performance trying to shut me down due to false claims from buyers. Ive been up all night as well looking at solutions and I’ve come up blank as we’ve leveraged fba to make the business work.

It’s been nice knowing you all.
