Recommended Packing Method / Track Your Savings
I know there are a few other posts on this, but I wanted to get peoples verdicts on the amounts that are actually being paid out for doing this. The savings obviously have the potential to be quite significant, but the extra workload is pretty large - and there's no way I want to continue aiding Amazon in making time savings if they're not paying out as expected.
We have done half a dozen shipments using this method, with expected savings of £343 and 626 Euros. However, the 'Track Your Savings' tab only shows £80 and 90 Euros respectively. Possibly this is updated every 30 days? Or possibly Amazon are voiding whole payouts because of a single item discrepancy.
How have other people found it? I know that loosely you can zero Orders that have had £0 FBA fees applied, but it's almost like it's a smokescreen to hide how much £ savings are actually going through. If all I'm doing is costing myself time to make Amazon's life easier with no benefit to us then we won't continue.

... That pretty much sums up my long-term Amazon experience.

For the extra work involved at our end, and the complete nonsense we get with almost every shipment having 'discrepancies' anyway, plus the need to break things down in to multiple delivery boxes, it just isn't worth our time.
We ship stock practically every working day.
Todays is 1 box (mixed stock), meaning 1 UPS shipment to FBA.
The packing group method shows it would have been 4 groups, and would have saved us £11.25
But by the time we'd subtracted the UPS delivery fee for the 3 extra boxes... That'd be irrelevant.
Sometimes we can ship dozens of boxes per day, if we spent the time breaking those down in to the groups, maybe there'd be 'some' benefit, but then adding the labour cost of doing that, it would potentially still be worse than the saving.
It depends what size/type of items you're shipping though... If you're sending larger / high-value items it may be more beneficial.

They also likely only apply any benefits once a shipment has been marked as 'Closed' without any defects.
They may actually receive and process the shipment fairly quickly, but we tend to find the shipment remains open for several weeks afterwards regardless of if there are any 'imaginary' defects found.

Hello, @Seller_y1oOV7IRdwzeB
This is Sunnie, from Amazon. Thank you for such a great question about Amazon recommended packing method.
I understand your concerns about the Recommended Packing Method and the discrepancy between expected and actual savings. Let me address this:
The 'Track Your Savings' tab does typically update on a 30-day cycle, which could explain some of the difference you're seeing between expected and actual savings. However, the significant gap between your expected savings (£343 and 626 Euros) and what's showing (£80 and 90 Euros) definitely warrants investigation.
To help you get clarity on this:
- Double-check that all shipments have been fully received and processed
- Verify that the packed units matched exactly with the recommended method
- Contact Selling Partner Support (here) to:
- Review your specific shipments
- Confirm the calculation method for savings
- Verify if any savings were voided and why
- Get a detailed breakdown of how savings are being applied
This program is meant to benefit both sellers and Amazon, so it's important that you receive the appropriate compensation for your additional effort. I'd recommend holding onto your documentation of expected savings for reference when discussing this with Support.
If you're not satisfied with their resolution, please return to this thread and provide your Case ID. I will personally review your case and ensure it receives appropriate attention.
Best regards,
Sunnie

Just to update....
Noticed this thread is still active: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/seller-forums/discussions/t/56db4914-f225-4535-b44b-2fefe5747f42
Seems like the amounts being displayed are almost meaningless.
