GS1 Barcode Help

Do I send my Chinese supplier on Alibaba a file image of my GTIN barcodes (GTIN-13 and GTIN-14? Is that how it works?

If you want / need your barcode on the packaging then yes you’d need to send them over. I would assume a pdf but ask them if they have a preference.

Edit - why 2 barcodes?

I don’t have any fancy packaging, just a plastic PE bag. I was under the assumption that Amazon requires a GS1 logo attached to the bag somewhere so that it can be scanned into the Amazon systems.

If I can use the FNSKU why do I read in most places that Amazon only accepts GS1 barcodes? Do I put my GS1 barcode on my product label which has my branding on inside the pack, making sure it is easily visible. Then a FKSKU on the outside for Amazon to scan?

Ok, makes sense. I am still in the early stage of ordering. So I will ensure to tell my supplier to make sure there is warning signs on them. Once I get my products made I am going to get my supplier to take photos of my product, ensuring that there is a Thank You card that has my branding on inside the package. This will be enough to get past Amazon Brand registry Requirements won’t it? I have a UK IPO

Lets say it is a washing up brush, what if I can get my supplier to print my branding onto the plastic bag itself. Or attached a small plastic zip cord to my product with a product label showing my brand. I am planning to get the products shipped to my address then ship them to Amazon using a delivery company. I have not received a sample but it is a very basic cheap product

I am UK based, I have registered with HMRC. I have sold on Amazon FBA before but I bulk bought UK goods from a brand based in the UK. They sorted out all the labelling on their end and I got a delivery company to send to Amazon. This time I have an IPO and it is my first time buying for my brand. I have done my keyword research on Jungle Scout and I am confidant that I will be able to reach a lot of people with relatively low competition. What insurance are you on about?

Hi Seller - get insurance - relatively low cost but imaging someone chases you for your suppliers fault - it is you that are selling it and if you are a sole trader they can wipe you out.

I am having an issue when uploading my product information to Amazon, I type in my GS1 number into the external product ID section and click GTIN and it says “Value for ‘externally_assigned_product_identifier’ is shorter than the allowed minimum (14 characters).”
