I think they may be referring to you being authorized to sell whatever it is you're selling.

If the brand has registered for brand ownership, you will need a letter from them to say you are allowed to sell those products.

If you are selling your own brand, they like you to send a letter to yourself, as on Planet Amazon, that makes sense.

A letter of authorisation is one from the brand or representative stating that you are an approved retailer of said brand.

You may not actually be required to have it to resell a branded product, but its part of the Amazon dogma, so be ready to hear it a lot. If theres something else you can provide, like a legitimate invoice etc, thats mostly what you're going to be able to provide.

I had a letter of auth from a legitimate distributor of a brand in the UK, who have permission from the brand owners, and Amazon didnt care. Good luck getting in touch with someone at Nivea who can help ha ha ha

It used to be what everyone is suggesting but it has changed now, what they actually want now is proof of your utr number if i remember correctly.

Its the ridiculous way Amazon do their best to confuse sellers. Its a up to date letter from HMRC showing your UTR number

If you have submitted a Letter Of Authorisation but Amazon are still asking for more documents, you have to phone the HMRC and ask for a confirmation of unique taxpayer reference letter. Once you receive this then you have to upload it to Amazon
