GTIN Exemption Letter advice
So I am going to register a NEW brand, I am looking to “Apply for GTIN Exemption”
And I believe the letter may be the best route, as it currently stands the brand is owned under my company (same one I use on amazon seller)
So how my business works:
- Small Business
- Made to Order
- I am the manufacturer / Orders are dispatched directly to customer
So for the letter, I have used their example:
but they also require a reason for the exemption, so do I just explain to them that I am the brand owner/ manufacturer?

If you check the Amazon help, pages, they already include some example reasons why you can request the GTIN exemption, which you could use:
“Here are some scenarios when you can apply for a GTIN exemption:
- You want to sell products for which the brand, manufacturer, or publisher does not provide a GTIN. For example, private-label products or handmade products.
- You want to sell products for which you are the manufacturer, brand, or publisher and you do not have barcodes on your products. For example, private-label products or handmade products.
- You want to sell product parts that do not have a GTIN. For example, automotive parts or mobile accessories.
- You want to sell a bundled pack of more than one product. For example, a pack containing a leather belt and wallet or a pack of two shirts.”
