Product ID entered is not valid error suddenly appearing on 1000s of listings
I have over 10000 listings many of which have been listed for over 6 years. All are manufactured by us, are in Brand Registry, and have valid GS1 Ean codes. I have never had a problem editing them from time to time to improve images etc. Then suddenly a couple of days ago I get a "Product ID entered is not valid" on 1000s of these products. I cannot amend any of these products because of this error against the External Product ID. I have tried updating by file upload and have checked all attributes in case there have been changes to the template.
I am going around in circles with seller support. Note, these are existing listings for own branded products for which we are the only seller. Has anybody else experienced this?
Thanks
Matt

I have noticed that this morning I have the same issue. I have justy opened a case with SS but do not expect anything that will help from there.
If I find anything online I iwll update you here, please do the same.

I have just had this back from SS
When you find the locked product data for an ASIN is incorrect for any of these SKUs, the impacted SKUs for the ASIN must be deleted for 24 hours. This will enable our system to allow changes to these locked attributes.
Note that this will not affect your product reviews or sales history on the ASIN.
On checking our resources, we see that the ASIN is linked to your brand. When an ASIN is linked to your brand, Amazon increases the strength of your contributions and can prevent changes to specific attributes after their initial entry.
Due to this, you're unable to update changes to the listing. When you find the locked product data for an ASIN is incorrect for any of these SKUs, the impacted SKUs for the ASIN must be deleted for 24 hours. This will enable our system to allow changes to these locked attributes.
While updating changes, you may face conflict error during submission.
To prevent the conflict error, we have submitted your contribution to respective Attribute on the backend. Since we at Seller Support unable to override the brand contribution due to lower reconciliation score with locked product data, we request you to perform delete and wait 24 hours prior relist with the updated contribution.
You can relist your product with the updated data after 24 hours by either of the following: -
Go to "Catalog" and select "Add Products".
- Submit an updated inventory file for all attributes with the correct information. Enter "update" in the "Update/Delete" column in the inventory file.
Note: This will not affect your product reviews or sales history on the ASIN.
You can find the correct inventory file in "Add Products via Upload": https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/listing/download
Below are the examples such attributes include (like Attribute) but are not limited to the following which can't be directly edited to prevent changes to specific attributes after their initial entry.
Example Attributes: catalog_number; model_number; part_number; size; color; title

Do have an issue too. When I checked the GS1 entry it was not complete, there are quite a few details to fill in now and some were still blank. They, the barcodes, had not been sumitted for verification on GS1. Not sure if that is the issue, maybe Amazon is doing more double checking now.
If I looked at the verfication on GS1 for the barcode it only had business data and no product data.

Yes I have the same issue on listings tha have neen perfect for 8 years!!
Couple of things I have learnt.
I spoke with GS1. The verification on GS1 is nothing to do with Amazon. GS1 have been having the same issue with Amazon for ever. GS1 recommend send Amazon a copy of the GS1 certificate.
Amazons solution is to delete the listings for 24 hours and then submit the listing again. They say tis will not effect the history of the product. If any of the listing are part of a child/parent listing ALL the child listings need to be deleted and then re-submitted. That is not an option....no sales for 24 hours. I have written to SSD telling them that the fix is not acceptable. I dont think for 1 minute they will do anything to help so I am still looking for a work around. Will update if I find anything.

Actally just did a partial update on a few products, with the same info etc, and now all seems to be ok....
Seller_ZOZTdubuqFBLp
when you say a partial update do you mean by uploading a file?
Seller_4jaHlE3EDp5hj
Yes uploaded a template and did a partial update it did fix a few of these errors.

Hi D2D_Products_828 and IQI_Shop,
I am (in a way) glad to see I am not the only one having this issue. I tried a partial update (and a full update) via an upload but this did not resolve my error.
So that I can check we are all on the same page. Can I confirm that you are both seeing the following error when trying to edit an affected listing via Manage Inventory. The External Product ID contains the correct GS1 EAN but is not greyed out and locked as you would normally expect it to be.

Seller_ZOZTdubuqFBLp
That is exactly what I am seeing. It is worth mentioning that this is happening on listings that have been live for years. It is happening on Child listings, not all child listing in a 'family' just appears to be random child listings. My GS1 is paid and up to date and as mentioned earlier in this thread GS1 confirmed this is an ongoing issue for Amazon sellers. Today I am going to try to do a partial update and hope that works, I iwll update here with the result.
I just shake my head at the thought of deleteing the listing for 24 hours and then putting faith in Amazon reinstsating the listing along with all its original history. It shows a totsal lack of any empathy towards sellers and a total lack of any business understanding. Lets remember this is not something that I have done but an Amazon issue. Deep breaths!!!

We too are experiencing this on listings that have been live for years and without any previous issues. We have about 10,000 listings and I would say we are getting the problem on more than half of them. It would appear to be affecting older listings for us. I too have no desire to delete and relist products. It was also suggested to me to replace the EAN in the External Product ID with the ASIN which I have no desire to do either as I do not want to break the GS1 EAN connection that has been there since the products were created.
Although I am not able to edit and save these listings they are still sellable. My fear is that they are going to start getting suppressed in some form because Amazon decides the External Product ID is invalid.
I tried a feed update on two of the problem listings and am getting an 8105 error. It doesn't indicate which attribute is invalid and as far as I can tell everything is correct so I presume it is failing because of the External Product ID.
Seller support are currently looking at this batch feed but that was over 24 hours ago and I have had no response yet. I will update this thread when I do.

We also have this issue. Over 2,000 listings, many over 10 years old. We are Brand Registered with valid GS1 EAN's. I raised a case with SS and this is the response I received:
Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support, You contacted us about an incorrect ean on an ASIN. Kindly provide the following information for us to troubleshoot further: – ASIN – Incorrect Product Identifier – Correct Product Identifier – Image of the product showing the correct ean or manufacturer link showing the product and the ean We can proceed with this case once we receive this information.
Needless to say this is not helpful. I replied to SS highlighting that their response did not address the issue. They came back with the exact same response.
I also raised a ticket with GS1 and they came back suggesting Amazon SS would help. We are going through a phase of listing improvements to product descriptions and images, but unfortunately we can't continue with this due to this issue.

We've been seeing the same on our listings. We list own brand products with EANs assigned from our own GS1 account... but Amazon says the EANs aren't valid.

We had the very same issue. I opened around a dozen seperate cases with SS over a period of 3 months. In the end we have been forced to relist and lost all feedback. Not good, since this has impacted sales......
