Proof of postage advice required

Hello to all,
I am sure you have had similar situations to this, so need advice.

I recently sold a computer game to a customer, I always send via Royal mail 2nd class and obtain a proof of postal receipt.

The buyer claims that the game never arrived, he opened a case against me and as usual Amazon today issued a full refund. My question is this, even though I can prove 100% the game was posted, and have his address details on the receipt, would that still not be enough protection for myself as a seller.

Anybody could in theory, rip off genuine honest sellers by claiming items never arrive, what protection does Amazon give us in that respect ?

Any advice appreciated.

Sadly not. You know the phrase: Proof of posting is not proof of delivery.

Put in a claim for compensation with Royal Mail. You can do it online via their website.

Make a claim with Royal Mail and consider sending by an Amazon approved tracked service in future.

Proof of postage proves almost nothing in the real world. Signed for tracking is key.

use royal mail click and drop
it provides confirmation of delivery (Dependant on service used)

if you would of sent it 1st class you would be able to see if it has been delivered or tried to if no one was in , always worth it for a few pennies more IMO

What makes everyone think that tracking is worth the paper its printed on lol…it means nothing!!
I’ve had claims automatically given to the buyer, even though its tracked and supposedly signed for…at the end of the day sellers have to hope they are dealing with honest buyers!

Proof of postage is not proof of receipt. You can still claim your costs back from Royal Mail though using the proof of receipt. You need to provide an original invoice showing the cost of the goods as well. You upload them into your claim together with the name and address of the person you send the goods to. At least you can recover your costs evev though you make no profit.
The tracking number you enter is to the right of the date on your receipt and may start TP 08 NO 01 ST XX FAD 1234567 ignore spaces and : symbols.Takes about 10 says and you will get a cheque or stamps to cover your costs .
