Amazon closed my seller accout and request UK VAT number
I received a performance notification email on July 7th, informing me that my account was closed due to not uploading a UK VAT number. However, due to the hasty closure of our European seller account under some special circumstances, it has caused us a lot of trouble in our compliance efforts.
The specific problems are mainly in the following two aspects:
(1) Our company’s legal name, that is, the company name on the business license has been slightly modified. This problem has caused us to encounter insurmountable obstacles when registering VAT numbers in various European countries (especially the UK and Germany). Because the UK/German tax authorities require us to provide company business license, and also provide screenshots of the Amazon sellercentral, but they are not consistent, so it cannot pass the audit. Secondly, this kind of information lag will also cause trouble in future KYC verifications. I know the importance of keeping the validity and authenticity of Amazon seller account informations, so I have always wanted to modify the identity information in the sellercentral. I have tried to contact Amazon many times to make the seller information part of my account consistent with the latest legal documents. But because the seller account is closed, I can never make any changes to this part of the information.
(2) The UK tax authority requires that the Amazon seller account status must be displayed as “valid” before approving the VAT number registration application. However, because I do not have a UK VAT number, Amazon has closed my seller account and my account status is displayed as “invalid”. Therefore, I cannot register for a UK VAT number, which contradicts Amazon’s original intention.
Due to these two reasons, my efforts for VAT in Europe have always failed. I hope any Amazon staff can see this article and understand the dilemma I am facing now and give me some help.
Regards!

Hello @TERRATUTOR_GB,
What do you mean by
May I ask what is the current state of the account?
Seller_7VbclcPFFRTnc
Amazon would / should only require a vat number from you if you had already sent stock to be stored in a country you are not resident
Therefore, no stock should have been sent before vat registration was in place
According to your SP , you started selling in uk in 2016 and stopped in 2018 and are registered business seller in China… with feedback in 2017 crossed through as FBA strike through
