New to Amazon - Understanding delivery

Hello,

New seller to Amazon as a small family run furniture manufacturer. Currently creating our first listing but having difficulty understanding how to go about delivery. We manufacture furniture - mainly sofas and chairs and fulfil delivery ourselves using our vans. As we are a small company with limited logistics network we are only looking to deliver up to a certain radius from our workshop.

Is it best to write this limited area of coverage in the description or is there a way using Amazon backend to physically setup delivery zones? We do not want customer for example who live in the Scottish Highlands to place an order which we can't fulfil and then have to refund.

Also since we will be delivering ourselves how is the best way to go about giving tracking information? Upon order confirmation we will communicate with the buyer and arrange a suitable time for them to take the delivery.

Regards,

MMaison

Since you use Scottish HIghlands as example of where you don't want to deliver -- I am guessing you are in the UK?

If so, would be better to post on that forum. I will answer as if you are in the U.S.

You should be using the

Freight-shipping templates for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments

You must offer Standard shipping for the same price to all 48 contiguous states. You cannot sell local only.

I do not know if you are going to be able to deliver yourself. The page I link to has two seemingly conflicting statements:

Tracking: You are required to provide a shipment tracking ID and carrier name when confirming your order on Amazon, for all the orders shipped via Arranged Delivery or Scheduled Delivery.

and

Carriers: You can either self-deliver or deliver using an LTL carrier. If you self-deliver, when confirming shipment, select Other from the carrier drop down menu, and then type in "Self-delivery" as the carrier name.
