How on earth do I change my email address?

I’m finding it impossible to change my contact email address, which I need to do soon as I’ll be losing access to the old email address.

I found the following advice :-

Go to Account Info. - Click on Identity Information - . Under Primary Contact click Expand - Change the email address - click Save.

All works fine up to the ‘click save’ part. BUT I can’t save the changed email address, because the passport details last used for validation expired last year and when I try to save the change I get an error message and an ‘enter future expiry date’ message.

Surely I can’t need to revalidate my entire identity just to change my email address!!

I don’t want to mess with the passport details in file as they then won’t match the details provided during my last identity validation - and Amazon haven’t asked for passport details.

I changed my physical address no problem - how do I manage to change my email address?

thanks
