Referral Fee of 26%?

I am selling an item for 22€. Amazon is charging a whopping 5,70€ as referral fee, almost 26%! Is this a normal practice?

I wouldn’t have said it was anything horrendous. We have always worked on the assumption that around 25% of sale proceeds are taken up with referral fees and subscription fees etc. Some things are lower, some higher, depending on products and category. Sellers sometimes find this a bit of a shock but if you compare it with Ebay for example, it is quite competitive.

On Amazon, you don’t pay to list an item and it can sit there till doomsday or until sold (FBA excepted)
Ebay charge a listing fee, then a sales commission at the end and then if you use PayPal, there’s a fee for that. And if the item doesn’t sell, you’ve lost your listing fee.Tot it all up and it is along the same lines as the referral fee here. With the pro subscription every month added, we pay around 24% of our sales income on Amazon back in fees. I think that’s ok. If it was above 30% then I’d be concerned but not 24%.
