Loss of featured offer (Buy Box) due to not being priced competitively (outside retailers)

Hi all,

We received the following email a couple of weeks ago for a product that we have been selling at the price point at the time for at least a year.

"Below is a list of product(s) in your catalogue that are not currently eligible to be the Featured Offer because they are not priced competitively compared to prices for those products from retailers outside Amazon."

In order to get the featured offer we had to drop our price by around 40% resulting in us now making a loss.

Our product was certainly priced competitively and we have sent two support tickets asking specifically what comparision was being made please in the determination that our offer was not competitive at the previous price i.e. what external offer(s) were we being compared to?

For context, this is our own branded product and we are the only seller on Amazon. Externally on another site we do sell the same product but actually for an even higher price point not lower. It appears that our product has been mismatched to an external offer somehow but we are getting nowhere with seller support that just keeps saying:

Your offer is eligible to be a Featured Offer based on price.

Please be informed that your offer is currently featured.

Anybody else experienced this and can provide a path to resolution?

TIA,

Steven

This happening a lot now where Chinese sellers on Ebay are using Barcodes for different products.eb, my item price is 59.99, chinese seller copies barcode and sells different item for 15.99, Amazon flag it and say match that price to get BuyBox. Its all automated and we can not do anything about it.When will Amazon learn how unscrupulous some persons and entitys can be

We had this happen on several of our private label products, we are the only seller, some have come back but some still have no featured offer. I have a case open with seller support without a reply. It is impossible to sell at the 'Competitive External Price' that they want us to.

happened to us on our own private label products too.

The second we raised the price by 5%, we lost our featured offer.

Irony is that no one else sells the product nor do we sell it on external sites!!

Another of our private label product has lost featured offer as they claim we are 1p too expensive! We sell it for exactly the same price on our website. There is something clearly wrong with Amazon's bots at the moment. We haven't increased our price for at least a year and nobody else sells the product anywhere.

Competitive External Price - £14.94

Your Price + Delivery - £14.95 + £0.00

It would be worth looking at the new independent complaints process here which has been implemented as a result of the CMA findings - It will not (rather conveniently) allow me to add the link but you can see the details here: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/tech-notifications.html?ref=nswg_scgw_G2SAGBHLNL5S5RFW_en_GB_0_nslp&id=G2SAGBHLNL5S5RFW&communicationDeliveryId=19dbb8fe-3c2e-458b-8d2c-07d4919ead8f&mons_redirect=stck_reroute

I would think this that is the precise behaviour that this was set up to stop.
